Does anyone know if someone makes a bolt in 4-link for a 72 duster that would be good for taking it down the track or would mono leaf springs be better.

Define "better." I personally have not seen a bolt-in 4-link kit, but it would be the most tunable. However, mono leaf springs with Cal-Tracs would be a lot easier to install (assuming a stock-type chassis) and are very effective.

This

There are guys in the low 7s with split monoleafs and caltracs. They work

The real limiting factor is how large of a tire you want to run. If your car is back halved and you want to run a big tire class, then the 4 link is probably the way to go

How fast does it go and what do you have now?
It’s a 72 Plymouth duster 700 plus hp 512 ci Eldabrock Victor max wedge ported heads that flow 380 cfm, 13.5 comp 680 inch cam can’t remember duration. Car weight 3240 with a full tank of gas. Hopefully it will run in the 9’s.Back story on the motor let’s just say the dyno pull didn’t go very good for the motor or my checkbook. So these are the changes I made to the motor. Should be finished soon.

I was wanting the four link for the tunability but I was not ready financially after the dyno issue that set me back a bit. As a full back half isn’t cheap. So I was thinking if they made a bolt in 4 link for drag racing would save me some money. LOL!!! Or the cal-tracks mono leaf springs would be a viable option to get the car down the track until I recoup some funds.

Unfortunately with the dyno hiccup I have to recoup a bit. So the full back half is on hold for awhile but I would like to get to make some passes while I’m waiting.

Cal tracs, split mono leafs, and a good double adjustable shock will be more than you’ll ever need to go 9s. And it will be more reliable if you street drive it.

Well, just know there are cars that run in the 8s using the stock style Mopar rear suspension with SS springs, so the stock type rear suspension is more than capable. If you are just looking for something different, I'd call @HemiDenny and see what he has to offer.

I am no guru but I wouldn't go anything less than a 4 link. You're going to need all you can get to hook up 700+ horsepower. What rear end are you running? It should be a Dana or 9", narrowed with a full tub. If not, good luck. Also, and I have to ask, are you a serious racer or are you just playing?

My old W5 Duster has been mid 9’s at 3200+ on a 28 by 10 Hoosier quick time pro with 002/003 Mopar leafs. Dinky tire, but why put heavier more expensive tires on. A 14 by 32 on a 9 or 10 second bracket car looks like poo..just my opinion.
And it printed slips. Most Mopars have great rear overhang and want to work well without rocket science.
To the OP, Cal tracks will easily get it done without tractor tires at that power level

Mopar did their homework on the leaf spring suspensions. It doesn't take much to make them work.

My car is set up with sliders and split mono from caltracs, 29.5 11.5 w 15 hoosiers
The engine should push a little more than 700 hp if I can quit changing stuff and leave it together lol

There are guys running 2000+ hp on leaf springs with caltracs. And they can make em hook on a dirt road with a 28x10.5 radial.

At one point Lyle Barnett drove Jason Digbys dart to the fastest leaf spring car record.

What about those guys runnin classes like FAST and all that? They're runnin NINES on factory sized bias ply tires. LOL

That’s very true. Ask em for some tips. And hooking 600 hp on bias ply tires is almost as impressive as hooking 2000 hp on a 28x10.5……… almost.

That’s so D@m impressive. Do you know if they moved the frame rails in to fit that big of a tire or did they just mini tub it or just put a whole new bigger tub in it. Thanks

I do not know the specifics of the chassis design or wheel tubs. I do know it had caltrac monoleafs, assassin bars, and sliders.
