I'm just curious what my car would run in the quarter mile if I got the chance to race it. I would think low 12s would be very possible if I got a good 60ft time. I'll try to list most of the specs as far as I know. Oh yeah, I just got some mono-leaf Cal-tracs that I'll be using on my Dart but just to throw another wrench into the ET equation.

Motor
-68' 340 .30 over TRW pistons 10.1:1 compression ~410hp (don't have the dyno sheets) on pump gas
-Comp 292 cam 244 dur @50 .501 lift
-stock crank
-fully ported and polished J heads with large valves
-tti headers 1 5/8 to 2.5 X-pipes
-Eddy RPM Performer Intake on car vs. M1 I have
-650 Mighty Demon currently on car vs. prepped 750 Holley 3310 I have
-FBO ignition

Tremec 5-speed 1st gear is 3.27
8 3/4 rear with 3.91 and Detroit true-trac limited slip
MP pinion snubber
XHD springs currently vs. the Cal-tracs system in including shocks?
Frame connectors
255/60/15 drag radials
weight with driver and 1/4 tank of gas .... 3000-3100lbs I'm guessing
somewhere around sea level

Anything else to add? Thanks guys. Just trying to see if I need to prepare myself for a good neck snapping with this combo.

Low 12's should be very easy with good traction, mine runs low 12's at that weight with less good stuff.

69 340 0.040 over trw 10.1 comp
MP 292/.508 cam
stock crank/rods
Non ported 308 heads with 2.02/1.60 valves
hooker 1 5/8 headers 3 inch exhaust 2.5 H pipe dynomax ultraflo's
Eddy TorkerII intake 750 Holley HP
904 with 3500 stall

SS springs pinion snubber
28x13.5x15 ET streets (car ran times on Sportsman Pros)
3130 with me and 5 gallons pump gas
1.75 60 foots 12.00's at 112mph

Your car sounds like it with be a handful!

Just wanted to say very nice car! I love my '66 Valiant Signet /6 auto but your beast makes me drool.

BTW I just checked out your other thread and your car looks awesome! Top down low 12 second streetable hot rod, I love it.

If you dip into the 12's which I am sure you will NHRA won't let you run it without a roll bar.

Chuck

And if you put a bar in it you will need a 5 point harness which will need a re-cert every 2 years.

NHRA is also 13.49 or faster. NHRA and IHRA safety rules pretty much mirror each other.

I've been toying with the idea of installing a bolt-in roll bar while I still have it at this point in the the resto. I would weld the mounting plates under the car with the nuts welded as well. That way it would be easy to sandwich the top mounting plates and bar to the inside floor. I would be able to remove it when not racing so as to keep the nice smooth convertible lines intact.

Good idea?

You need to contact the santioning body of the track that you plan to run because they will make the final determination of how the roll bar needs to be. I will look at my NHRA rule book tonight because when you get to a certain point they will require a full cage and I know that you are probably not going down that path.

I had done some reading and the NHRA rules do make provisions for a bolt in type roll bar for convertibles.

This is where I got my info and idea for my car.
