So I am going to put the 408 stroker in my Duster. I am thinking TTI headers, 750 Eddy Carb and Edelbrock RPM air gap intake. Then a MSD ditributer. Probably keep the 904 and build it up. 8 3/4 with 3:55 gears. This will be a street car that I might take to the track a few times a year. What do you think is this enough carb etc?

360 stroked to 408 - 10:3 to 1
408X Magnum Cam 214/224 555/536 108
Edelbrock Heads ported and polished

I would tank the eddy 750 carb....seems there are many post about it be a POS...

Go with a Holley Street avenger. Cfm aint bad, maybe go 800?

My Duster is a 73. Mini tubbed and 12 point cage. Yeah I heard maybe even go with a 850 carb? I just have a EDDY 750 new that is on my 360 right now.

Thanks. Seems I should be running a bigger carb.

All depends on what carb you get. Some flow quite a bit more than they are rated at.

Always err on the smaller side than on the bigger side.
Especially if this will be a street driver.

I say that because, on the street you are going to spend an extremely small amount of time at higher rpm. And that's only really where a larger carb is going to help from what I've seen.

I think a 750 mighty demon would be fine for you.

Yeah I only go to the track at infenion for wed night drags like 2 times a year. I don't want to choke the motor though with too little carb. What size TTI's should I get it? This 408 is supposed to be 450+HP.

A simple 4" arm engine, build for street duty, should make at least 450hp with available heads and a hydraulic cam. Could go more depending. First question... What is the budget for engine?

Get yourself a Quickfuel 850 it should work great on your stroker..edelbrocks are stock replacements, nothing more..demons are garbage..

My motor is already built and ready to drop in. OK I will find an 850.

Ah. ok. I misunderstood. I like the Holley Street Avenger 870 vacuum secondary carbs. Almost bolt on and go... Usually you only need to jet them and you get great performance and some economy. In terms of Edelbrock, I'd use a Thunder AVS 800 which I think would be good for a street car and around 430hp.

Meh.....750 or 800....seems right. I dunno why, I always like the Holley spreadbore double pumpers, but no one ever seems to say anything about them. I think at one time, they were made in 800 CFM rating, but now only 650 IIRC.

Well i am on a budget so could i run the eddy 750 for awhile until I can afford 450 for a new carb? I also might run my cheap hooker headers untill i can get some TTI's.

Yes, you will be fine with the street avenger 870. Good carb. Also, if you want to be cool like me, you can use a 750 Mighty Demon, like I have on my 408 in my sig pic. :)

Oh yea, TTI headers are very good. I think the only ones they have for the edelbrock heads are the 1 5/8-1 3/4"...

I would but I think my motor will put out more HP then yours... HA! J/K never dynoed mine. I am saying can I just run the eddy 750 for a bit? What intake are you running? How much was it?

Yes, run it for a while, test it out, see how you like it..Then whenever your ready switch to one of the recommended ones, and see how you like that instead. You'll be fine, it's not like your gonna blow your motor or anything! haha!

Yep that is what I will do for a bit. Hey will you PM me your specs for ignition(distrib etc) and intake and carb if you don't mind.

If you know about what CFM carb you want to use and you're thinking of buying a Holley, I'd call Holley first and talk to their techs. before buying. Especially with the new carbs that are out. The new ones are tested dry and the old ones wet.
I'm no expert this is just what I've found out. They told me, if you compare a 750CFM 3310 with an Avenger 770, THE Avenger was really a 680 CFM. Hope this helps.

70, i think you have it backwards... The 3310 750, when tested wet, is about 680cfm. The Avengers/HP Holleys, and Demons are wet flowed. The 870s I run are great. They need about 3 sizes more primary jet but that's it. The latest one was idling nicely at 800rpm last night with a hyd roller cam that's 238/[email protected].

770 Avenger here with elect choke, old style perf rpm intake, and MSD digital E curve. The best combo I've had so far.
