So you were able to ditch the leaf springs all together huh Joe? Is it made for better handling, or more strip oriented duty?

think it is actually more for handleing but i'm gonna see what it does on the strip too.. not too worried about the strip because i'm gonna detune it some so i can take it on longer trips and enjoy it more..
I hope I'm not out of line here. Can you give a ballpark figure for what something like this costs? It looks like a really neat setup!
There will be 2 options - coil-over or air ride, and adjustable links like the pictures, or bushing-type links for more of a set-it-and-forget-it use.
Price will be 1795 with either link, and 1895 to get the air ride shock upgrade.

you need to ride around in those bullitt rims and tell me how they ride and your set-up..i just wish i could getta hold of one so i could see how they would fit mine

i want to buy a set.. those were bills and i wanted to try them on just to see if they fit.. i want to buy a set that has the black centers...

Looks like you can go with a wheel with more backspacing is that true? Be able to run wider tires in the rear another words.

the wheel i test fit was a 17X8 and had a 5.72 back space. the tire was 275/50-17 which works out to a 27.8 X 10.8 tire and it fit in the stock wheel wells.

Yeah I overlooked post #8's typing of "big tires without tubbing". I guess it opened a world of all different types of wheels for you.

saw a guy with a 4-4-2 who had the bullitts...he got a vynal to make 4-4-2 emblems on tope of a black circle, then put them right over the pony caps...Looked great, there's just somethin maybe you haven't thought of, i know i didn't. :)

now thats an idea... i think bill sells a center cap that fits in there too.. i want to put the little dodhe emblem drom the red line dog dishes in there... gotta get money for the rims first though...lol

Joe, thats awsome. I didnt know Bill was doing rear suspension. I may look in to that instead of new leafs, oaffset shackles and caltracs.

Should work well on the strip with the adjustable pinion angle.

yea he just started to mess with the rear.. guess guys were asking him about them.... the lower arms also have two positions so there is tons of adjustability....

Looks awesome. I am jealous. But why does everything that can be good for my 68 Cuda cost 3 times the actual cost of the materials??? Ay carumba, $1,800 dead presidents????

Because someone had to take the time to figure out the geometry, and then build the jigs, aquire materials (shipping and handling) then there is the electricity, building costs (rental or mortgage or what not), insurance, tools, equipment and misc. supplies, also his time/effort. Cool stuff isn't just the materials that go into it, it is also all the rest of the work involved + materials. Do you go to work in the morning and tell your boss you only want to be paid material costs? It is a lot of $, but I don't see that it is out of line for what you would get. You try to copy that with nothing to go by other than these pictures and I would be fairly certain you'll spend twice that (remember your time is $ also).

Very nice rear suspension set-up Joe. I like my factory leaf suspension better personaly, but I do think that is cool. Will be interesting to hear what kind of performance change you'll get both road and 1/4mile. I don't suppose you ever had it on a skid pad to have some base line cornering information? Words like "it rode nice" or it "felt great" are not the same as real world performance figures, just like someone saying "that car feels like a ten second ride" but then they take it to a track and find out it is only a 14 second ride.

to ttell you the truth after the 120 mile ride home that day i'm lucky if i have 100 miles on it.. the weather went to crap, and after that last rain storm i have been trying to catch up with yard work so the car stuff has been on the back burner... may 7th i'm in on a track rental so i will see how it acts on the drag strip... as far as a skid pad.. i wouldn't even know where to go for one of those.. all i can tell you is in the roughly 175 or so miles i have driven it there is no comparison between the old suspension and this set up.. granted my old stuff was beat but jamies dart is all new underneath and mine now rides nicer and holds the road better then hers... i still have to put my new tires on too.. i bought a set of 17" rims and tires. right now i have a set of bald 235/75-15 tires out back and a set od 165r-15 tires up front which sure as hell don't help handleing..lol.

Yes granted. But you only have to do the geometry once, build the jigs once, etc... I'm all for people making a good living, I just don't want to get bent over in the process. Economics 101, if you want to make a million $$$$$ do you sell one widget for $1,000,000??? Kinda limits your buyers. Or do you sell 100,000 widgets for $10??? The principal at work is illustrated in the Laffer Curve. But I digress.

man i don't know here.. if it was so easy and cheap to make then anyone would do it... i think you would be very very very suprised as to how much money bill has into this system just to develop. i don't see how you can say that he is trying to get rich fast on this set up.. thats just wrong.. try to find another system like it for cheaper.. one thing that i know bill tries to do is keep costs down on his stuff as much as he can.. he has employees to pay, parts to complete kits with to buy, some stuff is sent out to a lazer cutter for a nicer and more accurate product and all his time to design and build every kit... like the kit or not its not a bad price for a nice kit that you don't have to cut your car apart to install, that you can keep your stock gas tank & stock fuel lines. to me that means allot that a guy kept all this in mind while making the kit. and on top of all that find another kit that fits an A-Body...thats another thing i really respect bill for.. all his stuff starts out with A-Bodies.. if he was truely after the money he would start with B and E bodies where the big money guys are..........

you can always go this way its only twice the price... but you btter not have an A-Body because they don't make one for it..

Economics 101.

Better get back to class, cause ya missed some :-# LOL
Having an extensive background in fabrication and welding and owning my own small biz, I can assure you, he isn't charging alot for something like that. Spend a few years welding and fabbing race cars and you'll realize just how cheap it is.

Now back to that comment about economics, charge enough to cover your costs and give ya a little extra so you can afford to feed your kids, or go bankrupt.

I've said it before, if you can't open your wallet a little to do your car up safely and correctly, your in the wrong hobby. These arn't RC cars were playing with ya know. :glasses7:

Yes, another zombie post brought back from the depths. ;)

It looks like XV has lowered the cost of their rear kit ($1995) to be more competetive. It looks like they still don't have one for an A-body though.
