318 race engine 4104230-318 any info. on these engines?

This is an old thread that I just came across. I have one of these engines. I tore it down and it has some very nice heads on it. Casting number 4071051. They also have HP30D cast into them. I put new lifters, timing chain, and oil pump on it and it is currently on my test stand. I have a...

Good to know. I was repeating what my machinist said. He was pretty excited about this engine. (I kind of had to pry the heads out of his hands to get them back.)

The '71 Dart came with a 318 in it so this would be a very easy replacement. That would leave me with a very strong 360 and nothing to put it in. I still have the matching number 318 from the Dart and it runs, although on only six cylinders. Non hardened valve seats and unleaded gas I...

Good eye on the '71 Dart. That is supposed to be my current project. I am building a very strong 360 for it but these other motors that I buy for parts, this is the second one, have little or nothing wrong with them and I end up making them run and flipping them. The Dart needs some love soon.

The bell housing is just the front end cut off of a dead 727 transmission. I just took the sawzall to it so I could have a rear support and a starter mount. I couldn't find a test stand for Mopar so I made this one.

I purchased a 1981 318 smog motor to supply parts for another project. When I opened this motor up I found some nice parts and the inside was in good shape. I changed the timing chain, oil pump, lifters, freeze plugs, and had the heads worked over and put it back together after degreasing and...

What engine did I just find?

The 727 came connected to the engine, just like it shows in the photo. I don't know the difference or how to tell between lock up and non-lockup. Flat pistons Crankshaft is 3751841 Intake manifold 4173915 1.88 intakes 1.60 exhaust Nice and clean inside. I don't have a great measuring...

What engine did I just find?

I just pulled a head off and it is casting 4071051 which makes it a 360 head I believe.

What engine did I just find?

Yesterday I bought a 318 "Smog" motor as it was advertised. I bought it for the peripheral parts only, brackets, valve covers, and such. The engine was complete with transmission. This morning as I was disassembling it I started checking casting numbers It caught my eye because of the four...

    Can you identify this factory?

Great advice from all. I will see if I can gently remove the tag since it is nonsensical. I will just keep it to stump my buddies that know everything. Thank you.

    Can you identify this factory?

Both good points. I bought this motor for $50 for the peripherals only. I put it on the stand just to see if it would run. I am puzzled by the stampings on the side of it. I can't find any reference to these symbols.

Here is a video shot tonight of it running. I just got it on the test stand. 1978 360 First Run - YouTube

    Can you identify this factory?

I bought a used 360 last week supposedly out of a 1979 pickup. This label is on the front right of the block. I understand the "2210" and the last six digits, but what manufacturing plant is represented by the jumping rabbit logo and the big "Z"?

'71 Dart Project and Engine Test Video

I am very new to this site and restorations. I acquired a decent 71 Dart with a dead 318 in it. This engine hadn't been run in ten years. After changing to electronic ignition and squirting a bunch of ether down its throat, it fired right up. I am building a strong 360 to go back into the...
