The rocker geometry was off with the combination that I was using. The roller on the rocker was too far toward the exhaust side of the valves causing side load on the valve.

I decided to change some things around on a 408 stroker I was building. The valve to rocker geometry was off on the Eddy aluminum heads that I was using. Nothing wrong with the rockers just my combination.

Did you ever get those seals on. I did battle with mine last night and finally conquered them. I had to shove on one end of the torsion bar with my knee and use both hands on the other end with the boot seal. That was after about an hour of struggling.

How about a lack of fuel pressure? Would that cause plugs to be uneven? Just a thought as I was working on her a little this evening and found the new fuel filter wouldn't stay full.

My oil leak problem before came from the lifter/cam valley. If that is where it is sucking air I wouldn't expect spraying around the outside of the intake mating surfaces to yield much results. But I will give it a try.

I am not doubting you at all moper, so don't take my questioning the wrong way. Would a simple tuning issue cause the plugs to be so uneven?

I am running a 4 speed so I set the idle up around a 1,000, right or wrong. There is vacuum at the port, but I don't own a vacuum guage at this point to give you a value. It certainly doesn't seem overly strong. Thanks for sticking with me here.

The carb was a street strip build by Demon Sizzler. I would have to check on the model, but if I remember right it is a 1972. The vacuum is hooked in to the ported side I believe (front left next to PCV in center) Initial timing is set at 16 with total in at 33 by 2800. I will double check...

Another issue I did'nt think to mention is that whenever I hook the vacuum advance up on the distributor it stalls the engine out very quickly.
