I don't regret spending all of three dollars to replace something that was cracked and corroded. I'd already put it on the list of things to go.

That's it right there! You wouldn't happen to have the correct springs and clips for it too? I've gotten a message from a guy with everything but the bracket plate. Think I could work it out with you and him and get a complete one.

See, thing is, what I got earlier is a 72-73 bracket and kick down and it doesn't have the right mount. I need the 74 bracket for sure but I also need the springs and clips for holding it together. Take some pictures and send them my way in PM.

Ordered a new ballast resistor. I looked into it and it sounds like this is a textbook example of what happens when they go bad. In a few days I'll have it in the car and we'll see how she goes. Stay tuned. . .
