Sadly I have decided to sell my 1965 Barracuda. I had originally purchased this car for my dad almost 6 years ago as he had given me a 1966 Formula S on my 16th birthday.
Oringally a Texas car which is why the body is so great with all orignal body panels.
Engine is 273-4 barrel, orignally the...
I'll definately stick to the repop if necessary. I've located a steering column in western Canada. The seller isn't sure if it came out of a A body or not and not sure if it's for a P/S car with auto. It does have the return switch so the question is how can I confirm it's the right column...
I've ordered the seal/bushing etc. Hopefully once they arrive along with the firewall gasket and coupler rebuild kit, we can get it all back together without any play. Also the wiring running through the shaft is crap and the signal return switch is missing which is why I'm considering...
the previous owner had converted the car from a 4 speed to auto with a B&M shifter on the floor. When my buddy and I pulled the steering column to correct the play in the steering adapter, we noticed that the column had been cut. No lower bearing where he had cut it for some reason. Now I...
Looking for a correct steering column for my dad's barracuda.
As mentioned this car has power steering and was converted from 4 speed to auto on the floor.
I had installed new shoes from a later rebuild kit that I had purchased. Once everything was reassembled, the steering still had accessive play so my friend and I are tackling it again. When we opened the first time, there were no springs holding the shoes. I bought the car 4 years ago so...
100% agree, which is why I'm consulting the group who has expertise from doing it in the past.
I'm starting to think that the only good solution is to buy an aftermarket coupler for safety's sake if I can't purchase the correct rebuild kit and parts.
great article Alan.
Can someone please confirm if a 65 Barracuda with power steering can use the later rebuild kits? Are the shoes the same size and does it require the spring? When we took my dad's coupler apart, there was no spring on the shoes.
thanks,
Karl
so I have the door card and the the chrome trim off. Reaching the retaining nut is almost impossible. I think I need a very long 1/4" drive extension. Is there any trick to reaching this nut, is it from the bottom of the door?
