Original EL5 71...53000 original miles...never been apart...completely numbers matching with dual block heaters, 10" heavy duty brakes, and rear defrost... original vinyl top...and a meticulously kept log book of mileage at every fill up and service....still has most of the the assembly plant...
You can go to the auto parts store or a hardware, buy a small hand pump with hose and some 5 gallon buckets. You can shove the hose down the filler neck and pump the fuel out of the tank into the buckets. Form there you can determine if the you are going to pull the tank or just the filler neck...
I don't think it's a 340 thing because the example pic is originally a 318 car. However, my 71 Scamp is a 318 car and doesn't have that trim either. I'm also not sure if those moldings were exclusive to the 1970 model year.

I am very confident it is completely #'s matching...just want to confirm the body numbers. Everything else is 100% matching. I found 3 buildsheets and the Chrysler of Canada IBM punch card in the car so far. I hope I will find the numbers under the trunk lip, because I'm not feeling all that...
