That is exactly the hand pump with hose I was thinking of...Used it to pump out the fuel tank for a sending unit swap. Works well...

You can go to the auto parts store or a hardware, buy a small hand pump with hose and some 5 gallon buckets. You can shove the hose down the filler neck and pump the fuel out of the tank into the buckets. Form there you can determine if the you are going to pull the tank or just the filler neck...

Sounds like the lower end is the only thing turning with the starter. I'm on board with the timing chain cutting loose.

I don't think it's a 340 thing because the example pic is originally a 318 car. However, my 71 Scamp is a 318 car and doesn't have that trim either. I'm also not sure if those moldings were exclusive to the 1970 model year. Oh, and no brainwashing was required! This kid is Mopar or no car...

Were the VIN numbers stamped on the bodies of 1970/71 Darts and Scamps. I have a 71 Scamp and I am trying to find these numbers. I have looked for them on my neighbor's 70 Dart Swinger as well and can't find them. Neither appears to have them on the core support. Where should I be looking?

That Duster tagged both walls and was running in the lane I was staging in. I was right behind him and had to wait an hour or so while they hauled it away and cleaned the track. As bad as the cars looked, at least he was able to walk away...really unhappy, but walking.
