    Just a sanity check here.

Thank you all for the excellent info! Greatly appreciated. Now all I have to do is... Make it happen!:steering:

    Just a sanity check here.

I've got a '67 Dart with a 340, a modified 727 trans with a reverse valve body. It currently has a Cheetah SCS cable shifter. The previous owner hacked up the front and back carpet to accommodate the shifter. I'm going to replace the carpet and want to change the shifter out to something like...

    Stroker Build... maybe

Thanks for all the replies. Apparently there's a lot of people who like calculating the cylinder volume. LOL If I do go this route, it would be with the current 4.07" bore and a 4.1" stroke... I'll probably go with something a bit milder. I want to still be able to run pump gas so I need to...

    Stroker Build... maybe

A while back... my engine indulged itself in a slight smathering of steel dust. The rocker arm setup was ball and cup. One of the rocker arm balls broke off. The wasn't much dust (.003 .005) that I found, but it was everywhere. Since this happened, I really don't trust the spinning assembly...

    water in the oil

There was a Mr. Gasket set of rocker arms on it. They had a ball and cup design for the push rods. The ball on the rocker arm broke off. It's about 3/16" in diameter so there wasn't metal to go around, but it got pulverized somewhere down the line and made it's way around the engine. I...

    water in the oil

Update: Since my last post was written, I tore some of the tendons from my left bicep and can not lift more than 10-12 lbs with it. This is why it's taken so long to get the engine out of the car. Finally, the stars aligned. One of my brothers, my youngest son and I finally pulled it two...

    water in the oil

Thanks for the suggestion. There are no cracks that I could see. I went over and over it (and everything that was apart) while it was apart. Scraping all the old gasket material and such. Lightly flat filing to look for any aberrations. It looks like it was port matched at one time. I can can...

    water in the oil

Coolant. Be kinda weird to leak that much oil there. It's hard to tell EXACTLY where a leak is coming from with the engine put together and in the car. All I could see from the angle I had was it running off the block. Thanks flyfish! That did the trick. I grabbed one of my pliable scrapers...

    water in the oil

Well, no pressure test needed... yet. It's leaking between the intake and block on passenger side at the rear of the engine. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the manifold off. It's stuck like super glue. The only place I used silicon was on the cork gaskets at both ends. A...

    water in the oil

I don't think so due to the amount of coolant in the pan when I drained it. Put silicone sealer on the water pump bolts, picking up the pressure tester tomorrow after work (had to order one). Reports on Thursday. Thanks again all for the helpful info and suggestions.

    water in the oil

Thanks for all the replies. First, the heads have not been pulled since I've owned it. It was running really strong with no cross contamination issues. Second, I do believe it may be the intake gasket. Just didn't want to pull it if I didn't have to. BTW I can see places on the intake gaskets...

    water in the oil

Weeks ago, I had a rocker arm failure. I bought a whole new setup. After what seems like an eternity of waiting on parts. Yesterday, I was able to put the new set in. The engine is, what I think (there's no documentation on this) a '72 340. The heads are '72 that has been verified. They...

Mr. Gasket Rocker Arm Stud Issues

There was no problem with the adjuster(s), no shortage of oil, no lifter failure. I guess it just had a bad day. I pulled the intake manifold off this afternoon. Everything with the exception of the rocker arm and push rod looks fine. Heck, I could probably reuse the rocker arm and push rod...
