I am hoping someone could tell me the correct 3 speed maual floor shift tranny would be used for the 1972 Duster with a 318. Was this tranny a synchromesh only unit and what would be the correct serial numbers or casting numbers. How would I identify a correct unit. Is there a specific size...

Daliant the tranny that I am looking at is an all synchromesh unit that has a 4 1/2 inch retainer bearing and a 1'' input shaft 23 spline. Would that be correct to use on a 318? Thanks! Yesteryearmotorcars

The 8.25 has more bolts on back cover than the 7.25. you should also be able to see the sheer mass difference between the two housings.
