The license plate was from Texas and read 100PSI kind of a long way from home here in California

Must be a diesel truck event in your area. 100psi, that's alot of boost there buddy!
 
Yeah, none of the factory ones said "Cummins" on the door. I'd like to see what's under the hood of that 'Texas Twister'.
 
I had a couple of friends who had these trucks back when they were new. Performance was pretty impressive but I don't think it would compare with what the one in your pics has to offer.

I know where one of these are that might possibly be for sale, is there much demand for them these days?

These are bringing pretty fair prices for a pickup and were faster than the corvette of the same year. of course performance was down on all American built cars in '79 but IIRC, the TLRT had the lowest ET of any American built production car of that year.
