I have a 340 engine with a date code of 6/19/67, which would be correct for a 1968 car. I was told this engine is for a 1968 Barracuda according to the numbers. I am in MN, if you think this may be yours send me a PM with the last part of your VIN number and I will check and see if you won the lottery!

Engine is STD bore, great shape and not locked up, sitting inside a heated shop. I also have the matching numbers 727 trans too.

This is NOT for sale, only available to the owner who is missing this gem. If you do get lucky, we can work out a deal to sell or trade. So if you have a 1968 Barracuda 340 with an auto trans, drop me a line 8) Keith.

Good Luck to whoever might have the number! I wonder what are the statistics or odds of it being someone on this site would be?

Hey 4spdragtop, I checked your old PM and it doesn't match your car, too bad, that would have been awesome.

Too bad it's an automatic - for sure it's not mine. Thanks for throwing that out there though.......

i am looking for mine 68 barracuda 340 engine but it is a 4 speed car.
my car from Pa, south Jersey area but with the internet i could be anywhere

I'll pm my vin to you. Its a 4 speed but you never know things get changed around over the years.

I'm using someones 6/67 340. If anyone wants to send their vin to me I could check the #. I can't give it back but at least you will know where it is.

In 68 the # is up top where the engine meets up with the bellhousing. Is it possible that it matches the production # and not the vin #?

I should get on the ball and post up the numbers I have again on the extra 340's I have laying around and the one I know of also.

I'd like to find the original 727 for my GTX. I was taken out by a shop in Milwaukee years and years ago. I think they swapped for the one that's in it now and this one is built so it was probably just exchanged for a core.

How cool is this??? Keith, you're a shining star here. PM on the way because ya just never knowwwwwwwwwwwww. :-D

This is nice of you to offer to a member.

Thanks but it is no problem, I would love to find my original matching 70 340 Dart block. I should post those numbers too incase someone may have that.

No matches yet from the pm's I recieved, I was hoping it was Leanna's, then I could make a road trip down to see the leggy redhead! :love7:

I thought the last numbers of the VIN were the production numbers? The number Leanna sent me was the VIN number, the numbers were the same length with a letter B in it, starting 8Bxxxxxx. Thats how the numbers on my block start out.

ok, i have a 6/26/69 build date 340. i am told it is the original engine out of my 70 340 dart, but i cannot get any numbers to match up.

on the front of the block, they are hard to read, but this is what i get....

fw 0r(or a b)3(or a 5)0270521 below it is a k5 and on an angle there is a G

on the passenger side near the oil pan, also hard to read but.............
looks to be 0p165054

Why don't your just post the VIN & save folks some PMs?

The 340 I have here is from a 1973 St. Louis built car, the partial VIN is 3G 139836

If you own the car, give me a shout. It was taken out of a 318 Barracuda cloned into an AAR from the Portland, Oregon area 10 or more years ago.

1968 body numbers match the VON - Vehicle Order Number, it also appears on the fender tag & broadcast sheet.

1968 model year engines (if stamped) have the partial VIN.

I have 2 340s - one of them is supposed to be from a 70 and the other from a 73. The 73 now has earlier internals in it. I'll try and find the numbers on my next day off - Tuesday.
