Guess the $'s for a 70 factory 340 Duster

-
Well, an "authentic" restoration it is not. '71 paint scheme, painted dual mirrors, exhaust tips, incorrect battery. I'm stunned it reached the drunken price of 38k last year. If it hasn't sold already, I would guess a more realistic 18-22k range, depending on condition. The FC7 '71 4 speed should go a bit higher, however the color has been changed. Why must every mopar musclecar be repainted a high impact? The original Autumn bronze is a beautiful color.

Regarding the 70 H code at auction, a 99% correct restoration, real FJ5 70 340 Duster 4 speed sold at auction in the mid 30's in late 2010. It was worth every penny. Most people overlook them because they aren't flashy enough. It's nice to see when their sleeper status remains in tact.

I can see where you're coming from, many of the standard colors look great on these cars, I can't agree with you more.

The fact of the matter is, High Impact colors were optional (at extra cost), same as dual racing mirrors and rear deck lid spoilers. These all make the car stand out more (Bling!). '71 stripes have more detail then '70 (on Duster's), that's why it's being done.

Only the keen eyed Mopar officianatos like us A body guys will know.
Of course you need to know some codes, like paint codes, to pic them out.

Yet another reason I love this FABO forum, you fellows call it "an Ace is an Ace", and question the discrepancies.

As much as I hate to say it, it's got to hit over 30K. What's a almost new Camry worth?
Paint jobs alone go for 10K, throw in engine build (#'s) and trans., interior, brakes, exhaust...

My apologize to you Dart/Valiant fellows, but Duster's and Demon's only came in two door configurations, and were produced in much lower numbers, therefore harder to come by donor cars.

It is Barrett Jackson so there`s no tellin` where things may go. A year or two ago they did a 68 Barracuda Formula-S car that (once we had posted photos of it) members found all sorts of things wrong with it like: wrong door panels, dodge emblem in the horn center, wrong drivers door {was a`67} and several other things. I think the car brought over 50K. I think a lot of people believe that if the car is at Barrett Jackson, then it must be perfect. As pointed out earlier it`s just not the case.

NO exhaust tips on any 1970 340 "A" Body , regardless of its plant-of-origin , or state-of-origin .

Los Angeles-built ... most of these cars came from Hamtramck ; maybe it was originally an N95 car ?

I agree with the whole "looks better in its original colour " mindset , with only a few exceptions .

With this particular Duster, I would agree that it would have to touch the 30's again to maintain it's BJ-ness but I'm not sure about 38k, as previously sold. But it's still a nice 3 pedal H code and they aren't rollin' out of Hamtramck anymore. Indeed, decent paint jobs these days cost an arm and a leg.

340butterduster, your Duster, and Dmoore's, with their excellent history and survivor pedigree, easily outshine this one.

Hec, all Dusters (and Demons) deserve our love, though sometimes it's tough love.:goodman:

I would guess, but I can't afford to buy you and the missus the vacation.
Gotta read the fine print! 8)

Good lookin' 70 H-code there and a reasonable price but I would use caution bidding on this one. Fender tag indicates FY1 (Lemon Twist) but the supposedly original window sticker says V2 (Hemi Orange).

Well the "all in sale price" was 29,700 US$ and there were quite a few real close guesses but ModTopCuda was the closest, without going over, at a bid of 28,500 clams. Congradualtions ModTop you win the prize which was for the winner to buy me and the misses an all exclusive 2 week vacation in beautiful Aruba. The best part is that since you live about 2 hours north of me, in Devon, it should be an easy next step to make sure ya pay up.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumleft:

Should have read the fine print ModTop;-);-);-)
