OK, I started the 422 today and timed it to 18 deg idling. Ran for about 15 minutes (roller cam) and temp ran steady at 189. sounds good thru the TTI 3" system out the back. Forgot my video camera so will get video tomorrow and post. I know there is no cam break-in on the roller but what about the rings? I read different things. also I am changing the column shifter to floor shifter. Is the park safety in the column or trany?
Here is the video from my Droid, not the best sound. Are roller rockers usually loud????

With moly rings just load the engine against the brake a few times to seat the rings. (might de tough to do with that much HP and torque)LOL You should be good to go. Can't wait to see and hear the videos. toolman

According to some article I read online, and my Dad's experience with rebuilding a few engines, breaking in the rings=warm it up and then pound on it a little (vary rpm, not too much idling, etc). Just keep an eye on the oil level.

very cool man. I am happy for you! The feeling must be awesome...I have 2 engines, a 408 stroker, that ive never heard run before, only my dad heard it when it was on the dyno, and he said it sounded like a nascar engine. :) the dart is long from being finished..

and my little rebuilt 318 with rhs heads and hughes roller rockers, edelbrock cam...just have to finish up the tranny and install it all. :) maybe a month for that...

It depends on the cylinder finish and ring material. Plasma rings and cylinder RA seat instantly, Chrome a little longer and iron takes 'bout 45 minutes of varying loads on the motor.
My stroker project is still on the stand....

Congrats. If it was honed with a torque plate the rings are seated as soon as the engine reaches opertaing temperature. Let's see some video.

If its moly rings with the correct wall finish they are already broken in. That is how my engine was. Hammered it the first time out.

Congratulations Dustedu2, I bet you can't wait to share a video with us, I am standing by.

ps. I have been in the Dixon Jail before when I lived in Paw Paw :iconbigg:

Memike, How funny is that? I hear all you eat is Mcdonalds in there.

Ok, video is up, not the greatest sound from my driod. let me know what you think. Oil pressure is running about 70 psi is that to high? 10w30

wow dam, sounds awesome. I love the color to. Got any more pics of the car?

Solid Roller Comp XR280R 242/248 @ 50 , 570/576 lift

Sounds nice and crisp when you smack the throttle. Can't really hear a lopee idle in the Video. It idles very mellow.

The cam specs says Radical Idle. I guess with the 4" Stroke it mello's it out a bit soaking up some duration.

Sounding good Dusted. Roller rockers shouldn't be noisy if everything is right. You might want to have a second look at the adjustment.

Sounds good..now get those traction bars off..lol..
As they say, "I know Right?" They will be coming off. Thanks much!

Not sure I have it timed right yet but with a slight loss in lift do to mopar angle and the 4" crank it is less than I wanted. Might try 1.6 rockers down the raod.

Yeah, I will check adjustments. not sure what it should sound like with this combo.

How about the smoke out the exhaust, is that normal? Rings not seated???
