Valiant Sedan Delivery

Waggin II will be a sedan delivery but i plan to use doors from a two door sedan. them short doors just arent apealing to me

I got a couple of emails from Bill and he was glad to share this information on his Valiant Sedan Devery:

"My Valiant panel was owned by the "Michigan Consolidated Gas Company" in Detroit, they had a large fleet (about 100) and were all battleship gray in color. I pulled the slant six and the three speed trans and replaced it with a 383 Hi-po, 727 auto and a B body 8 3/4 axle when I was 17 years old. I drove that car everywhere, it was the only car that I owned at the time! The B engine is a very tight fit in the early A body, I had to mount the radiator in front of the core support and cut down the diameter of the stock fan by one inch! It never overheated and ran very well. "


"I am sure it went to the junk yard...I sold it to a guy with a drinking problem,it likely got wrecked. I was told that Chrysler took the order and contracted with either Creative Industries or Amblewagon to have them converted, I never found out for sure! I knew of one other that was stored in a garage in my area, I haven't heard from him in years. I would like to find another for a Hyper Pack conversion or possibly a slant six turbo. I live near Detroit MI, I am now retired from Chrysler Engineering after 35 years. "

I have a 440 and 727 ready to drop in it......not sayin it won't be a 340 with four speed but it looks like a good place for a 440

actually I'm doing some work for one of the best oval drivers in our area so maybe I'll trade out the work for some roll bar tubing and see if I can get some more done on her after dad's barracuda is done
 
Creative and Amblewagon both did conversions on the wagons as Bill said. There were two here in Texas a few years back, but I think they are long gone now. The next time I'm down in the south part of Houston, I'll cruise by and see if anyone can give any info on them.
 
if I can get a hold of a 62 2door saden I'd be real tempted to do that to my Wagon
 
It does look like the doors are shorter but I like the look of what you did with the longer door 2 door look.
 
Yes it was the "Michigan Consolidated Gas Company" that had a large fleet of 62 Valiant's, one year only! They were all a dark pastel gray in color. Bell Telephone vehicles were dark green...don't remember any Valiant delivery's at Bell, but I could be wrong....
 
This concept is giving me ideas! I'm building a 1962 Valiant and want a different concept so I've been online looking for all I could find out about the sedan delivery. Looking on www.flickr.com they look more like they were more a delivery wagon than sedan! Looking at the original wagons on pages 4,5,19,20,21,22 the roof line on the delivery looks to be wagon. It would have made sense to use a wagon as a sedan would be far more work. Does anybody know what was used?

Can't find my way back to the pages I found the other day! But these show the different roof line the wagon had with a rounded out side edge compared to the sedans square type edge. Also note the rear of the roof above the tail gate, both match the delivery vans roof.

I understand there was an original 62 Sedan Delivery Valiant @ a recent Goodguys event...Anyone have some pics? I heard it was red.
 
I had the same thought, so I did some research. Max's Panel Van is a 1975 Holden HJ Sandman (the HJ was made from 1974 to 1976). These cars had all the options and were the top of the range. The front end has been replaced with the front end from a Statesman. Originally the van would have had a twin headlight front.

So I am confused, That is a Ford Right? But the Charger is clearly a Chrysler. They look alot alike from what I see.

And back to Bill's question anybody know about the Goodguys event and the Valiant Sedan Delivery?
