I dont know about you guys, but my duster is always confused with being a nova. Do novas ever get confused with being a duster or is that a one way street?

I have no idea why this happens. I guess non mopar guys are pretty clueless.

i can see it. the 71 novas do i think. but i think most cars all like the same. like chevy ford and dodge all have a car that looks the same just another name. like at the ramcharger, bronco, and blazer.

Dusters and novas (late 60's, early 70's novas) share a very basic, overall shape. I think most non-hardcore car people are only familiar with novas because the GM stuff is like a bellybutton. Since non-hardcore car people don't have an eye for detail, and just see the overall generic shape, they go "hey look at that nova." That's my thought, anyway.

Ha ha thank thats bad had a clueless chick pull next to me the other day i was in my 71 charger with super bee hood and she says i like your car i siad thanks and she siad what is it a nova .i siad no with a smile so she tryed again and this time siad gremlin i laughed at her and siad hell no so she looks over and says your not going to tell me are you and the light turned green so i drove away leaving her clueless lol

I had a cute hs girl walk by my houze and say. " nice camaro" a out my 70 Charger.....

I've had my 69 Valiant called a Nova a time or two. Then again, it's been called a Dart, too. (Like by the President of a Mopar Club).

My 1973 Scamp gets called a Cadillac by a 68 Yr Old guy at my workplace - Im not sure how you can mistake something as big as a boat with my car - it's beyond me

I have had my '64 Dart called a Ford Falcon a couple times. Even once heard a Cadillac.

I did the opposite and asked the guy doing the exhaust on my truck if he was working on a Duster and his reply was "No, a Nova"

I had a guy come up to my 72 Duster and say " MAN THAT CHARGER IS SWWWEEEEEEEET" I said "well atleast you called it by a Mopar name.....but its a Duster" LOL

I had the cashier chick at the local Thortons (gas/convience store) ask me if my 75 Duster was an Omega (Oldsmobile Nova) then proceeded to tell me her aunt had one just like it. I told her I had never been so insulted and would never shop there again...she knew I was kidding her.

What's even funnier is i see a lot of people advertising for sale ''original V6 car'' when it's a slant 6.

Already shared this one once before, but...

Last summer we had a cruise in show downtown. I was walking with my wife looking at the cars when we stumbled upon a 70 Nova. In typical fashion we alked around, admired it, and poked my head head through the window to look at the interior. All the while, the owner was sitting in a lwan chair on the sidewalk watching. As we turned to leave, I (in a loud voice) said to my wife.. Wow, that is one sweet Duster! She kinda looked at me quizzicaly, so once out of earshot I explained why I did it. She had a good laugh.

Last year one of our famed members here did some beautiful personalized business cards for me (thanks Tony!). Excited to have them, one of the first I showed off was to my homeowners / auto insurance agent.

"Hey, cool car! I like the color. What is that ........... a Nova?"

I pouted my lip at him and took my card back.

IDK if it is a 1 way street since I left the GM stuff behind many years ago. But like mentioned above, the similar body lines can do that. Confuse people. The Duster was Chrysler corp.'s direct answer and challenger to the Nova. So wqith that in mind and non car people looking at your car, try not to be insulted to much by there uneducated mind on your fav topic.

When they argue with me, (wait, argue with the car owner, bad move,)
I just out smart them like this;

Idiot; Nice Camaro!

Me; Sorry, it is a Cuda

Idiot, No it aint, it's a camro, my Dad had one just like it!

Me; Hey, what/where did you go to school? You look like someone I know or there sibling etc.... (What ever works here)

Idiot, Oh! I went to XXXXX school.

Me, Thanks, At least I now know NOT where to send my kids to school. After all, your not to smart, you cant read! It says right here on the car what it is and you want to argue with the cars owner/builder on what it is.

LOL Talk about showing your ***/showing off your intell. Nice job dude. Thanks for your scholastic help and etc...

(Let the roast begin!!!!!)

I have never had a better time with the arogant and there holier than thou smart *** when I hit'em up like this, publicly and loud enuff for all to here. They justy walk away.

An honest mistake is one thing, acting an ***/arogant/smart *** is different.

I can honestly say I have never had someone argue with me that it wasn't a duster.
My favorite nova/duster confusion was when I was filling up at the gas station and this jacked up F-350 was waiting in line behind me with 4 teenage guys in it. The driver sticks his head out the window and yells, "what kind of car is that?" so I told him and then thought about it and yelled back, "which one of you idiots said it was a nova?" and they all started laughing and pointed to one of the kids in the back seat. It made my day.

Someone once called my brothers 67 cuda "hey i seen that mustang lookin thingy in your driveway theother day"

It is a one way street for sure. LOL I will be driving and see a car up ahead and say well it is either a Nova or a Duster. Cant tell till I get close.

My Dart has been called a Super Bee and a Mustang. Some people just don't know there old cars very well. Not every one is as in to them as we are.

I was showing a co-worker pictures of my car, and swear to god said, "I bet someone calls it a nova", sure enough the next person says "nice nova", but it was a woman co-worker who is pretty cool so I just said , "ya i get that alot but its a Duster."
