Hi there, I just recently bought a 71' dart with a 225 slant six from a friend this past summer. Well It's been down for three months now due to what I believe is an ignition issue. This really sucks considering this has become my daily driver. After doing some trouble shooting myself I took it to a local mechanic, apparently he didn't feel like messing with it because it is now back in my drive way.

Would anyone be up for giving me any thoughts or suggestions if I post the details? There's a lot of info to post. Thanks.
 
Welcome to FABO. Give us some more info on what happens when you turn the key, or anything you have noticed 'odd' about when you try to start it.

Welcome to FABO!!! But I am confused? you say you have an issue on the 6th and here it is the 11th and you have yet to post your issue???? DID you solve it already?

Hey guys sorry for the long departure and nonresponce. I gor the dart running back in the spring and have been running it every day, dont really have choice when its your daily driver! My problem was sheared splines on my distributer gear. it looked fine to me but i guess it was just enough to where it wouldnt catch the cam. have also rebuilt and recovered my seats since. will post pics soon.

I do have a question though... I found a good bumper and windsheild for cheap to replace my cracked and dented ones. Only problem is, is that they are from a 72' dart mine is 71'. I am pretty sure these are interchangable so p;ease correct me if i am wrong... Thanks!

Rear bumper. I saw a thread on here earlier today that said 70' thru 72' bumpers can be swapped as far as fitting and bolt patterns go. Is this true? Also need info still on the front windshield? 72' fitting into a 71'? This is to good of a deal that I have so I hope they fit!

I would say that if they're both 2 door hardtops, they will swap; ditto if they're a 4 door sedan and ditto if they're a Duster/Demon. However if 1 is 1 style and the other a different body style, they won't interchange.

Cool thanks! Yea both 2 Dr. Um, Nky. as in Bellevue, Ky. Right across from downtown Cincy. Cool dog dartman! Here's another question for ya guys, this one being probably more opinionated. Should I keep rocking the slant six? It runs pretty good but would really like to drop a V8 in her! What would this do to its value? What would be the most economical swap? And what would need to be changed drive train wise? I think it would be really cool to make this car a sleeper as far as cosmetics go instead of making look like a 340 car with the tail strip and all.... so should I leave it stock and freshen it up a bit or go all out? !!!
