Feds want to lower DUI to .05

my deal is this I made the mistake underage of consuming after drinking underage BAD decision no crap ruined MANY job and school opportunities i blew .04 Zero tolerance in NC. lost licensee for a year learned a valuable lesson. people take on danger in driving or riding the roads. I work EMS we see collisions all the time caused by everything from screaming kids, to cell phones to drugs to pets to drinking. we have got to eventually see that writing a feel good law (this isn't the only one ) is not going to save things. forcing people to account for breaking the current laws would do WAY more good than making new ones. as to speak to all the Scientist on here be aware that diabetics, and other conditions will read false positives MANY times on BAC do they get a pass or are they forced to loose their jobs and more over these things. we all want safe roads but eventually enough laws makes everyone a criminal.
PS i like all other CDL guys are at .04 anyway its just the standard we are held to

In my opinion the problem is not the .08 level, its the lax penalty for being a repeat offender. Not too long ago in the seattle area, some dirtbag POS with 4 DUI convictions and another one pending in a different county, mowed down a family in a crosswalk while intoxicated. He was supposed to have an ignition interlock device installed in his truck but no follow up was ever done by law enforcement to make sure he had done it. I don't have all of the answers but I have a few ideas. I would like to see a special license plate issued for anyone convicted of more than one DUI. I also think that if you are ordered to install an ignition interlock device that your vehicle is towed from the courthouse to the installation location and you can't pick it up until the device is operational. As for the device itself, it should take a picture of whoever is blowing in the tube, as I witnessed a lady have her roughly 12 year old daughter blow into it in traffic once (I called the cops on that dumb b*tch). It should be mandatory that the device is logged in to the authorities at least once a week or the car won't start until it is.

As of Jan 1 all new installs have a camera and all existing ones by June 1 so at least that part is being addressed. They also now have a 7second long blow that is very difficult for a child to do.

I also think if you have been convicted you should have a dayglow orange Lic plate

Part of my new job is installing ignition interlocks, I get to see some messed up stuff...
