lol i tried

at least you tried, and she tried... I have been trying to get my wife to drive the Dart... she wont do it... LOL .. doesnt like that I put a manual shift valve body in it.. afraid of the manual brakes, scared she'll do something to mess up the car.. etc etc.... and finishes with, 'I just enjoy cruising along with you driving' LOL ..

Guess she may never take the buggy for a spin lol

You're just lucky you got her behind the wheel at all.

I took the wife for a drive in the 72 and she didn't even crack a smile. Got out and said it stinks and must suck because the speedo jumps around.

Just needs some lube. The speedo cable I mean.

I will not let my wife behind the wheel of my Duster. She would not get behind it anyway anymore. After we put the 440 in it 10 years ago she wanted to drive it to work one day. It had rained. She had a Nissan Sentra at the time. She tried to drive it like the Sentra. She turned the corner and spun it completely around in the road. Few minutes it came back home. I asked her what was wrong. she told me she wasn't going to drive it again.

my girl wants to drive my duster whenever it sees the light of day again,i believe it will be a once in a lifetime experience for her.

Hahahah! I have the same stories with my wife. She's afraid to even ride with me driving the GTX (440 engine). She will drive the Cuda (273 engine) though. We took both cars to be in a 4th of July parade in Haddonfield. She was to follow behind me to get there. I start off on a 50 MPH road at 50 MPH (I usually drive 10 MPH higher than the speed limit, but didn't on this day) with her on my bumper. Then a minute later I see that she's a mile behind me already. I time the traffic lights to catch it at red and wave my wife to pull up next to me. I say "why are you driving so slow?". She yells back, "I'm not driving over the speed limit like you, I'm afraid!". Oh, I get it. She thinks the broken speedometer is actually working. So I replied "your speedo is broken! I'm not speeding! Stay on my bumper!". She did for the rest of the trip. When we got to the parade, I told my brother-in-law this story and he asks me if I was telling her the truth. I said to look at the speedo and tell me what it says while parked there. He saw it read 30 MPH just sitting there in "park" and started laughing. I said I would have thought my wife would have seen this and just disregarded any numbers it displayed - she didn't. My brother-in-law drove the car in the parade because my wife was still too scared. FYI - this car isn't even a restored show car.

I later told her that I care much more about her than the car and that she should enjoy driving it instead of worrying about it - it's insured! She said it is easier said than done. Gotta love 'em!

yeah, you have to love the women. cant live with em and ya cant live without em.. I have been with mine almost 30 years and cannot imagine life wthout her. I met her a month after she graduated high school and been with her ever since.

I keep telling my wife she needs to drive it, so she at least has some feel for it, how it will behave, how the pedals feel and how she stops.. If for no other reason than just in case something would happen to me.. Say we were at a show or on route to or from one and I would become sick, or something happens that I can't drive, she could at least take over.... Her response? "I'll call someone to get us, then get one of our car friends to go get the Dart' LMAO

I had a live in girlfriend that couldn't understand Why I liked my 68 340 Dart. then her Prelude needed some work. Had to teach her how to drive the manual valve body, she ciuldn't understand why I would mess up a perfectly good shiftin transmission like that. 2 days later when the Prelude was done, I had a ***** of a time getting her to park my car. Wasn't sure if I was gonna get to drive it anymore.

Carmen was terrified to drive the Valiant (273 2 bbl, manual steering, manual 4 wheel drums), and would always turn it down when I asked her to drive. Finally one day she agreed, and was quiet the whole way, but then began speeding up. Towards the end she said she was having a blast, and since then she is happy to drive it. Now she wants a Rambler!

My wife was afraid to drive the Prowler when new. But after I made her drive it a few times she got to where she would go to cruise in or car shows even when I wasn't able to.

The Dart, it was really the car she wanted, but after the 340-4 speed even though I put power steering on it for her, and several other expensive things she wanted when building it, she doesn't drive it much. But she can and likes to drive it, just her physical health makes it harder for her and me uncomfortable for her to drive it

She doesn't drive either of them very often anymore, but can and will if need or wants to.

my wife will not drive the dart.. scared of it.. she has her own ride.. 66 corvair vert. automatic.. i cant get her out of the drivers seat.. but now she wants something else.. a old truck or station wagon.. like a 53 plymouth. i have created a monster

at least you dont have to worry about her wrecking it. My ex wife totalled my 72 charger. Yeah, we are divorced now.

Did you make the decision because of the car being totaled?:toothy10:

no, but I cant say it didnt add a piece to a messed up puzzle. I told her it was too much car for her and she drove it anyway. Manual Trans, steering and brakes with a 440.

Some people never listen to sound advice!:violent1:

My wife drives everything we have. She don't care if it has power steering or brakes, as long as it is a stick. Then again if the car was a stick and had no brakes, she'd drive it. To her, a steering wheel is a plus as long as there is an 833 with a shifter to grab. LOL
