Ok, here we go. Please help me decide between these carbs listed below. Please refrain from offering any other models/types if you can. I'd like to stick to this list below!

Background: Sold my 625cfm Street Demon which was a GREAT carb. Ran great on my stock low compression late 70's truck 360. Ran great on my new hot 360 too, but lean. New 360 is as described below:

360 stock bottom end
-Stock heads w/ 2.02/1.60's in 'em
-About 9.2:1 compression (est)
-Hughes Whiplash cam 223/236 @ .050 and .512/.518 lift
- Eddy Air-Gap intake
- 727 built w/ rev man valve body and TCI 3500 Streetfighter TC
- 8 3/4 w/ 3.23 Sure-Grip and 275/50 Drag Radials

Carbs to pick from...trying to stay in the $300-400 range!

- 750cfm Street Demon (loved my 625 so much, I'm REALLY leaning toward the 750 version of the same carb, plug n play, no muckin' around with my fuel line etc etc) But it's most expensive at $369

- Summit Racing 750cfm vac sec (cheap at $269 and comes w/ fuel line)

- Quick Fuel "Slayer" 750cfm vac sec (good price at $299 but would need to buy fuel line)

- Holley 3310...old stand by. Through it in the mix cause it's priced close and proven design but its probably at the back of the pack currently in my mind.

Let the games begin...

Again, would like to stick to this list....but if you've got something valuable to add to the list (diff make/model) then by all means....chime in!

Not touching this one. Talking carburetors or motor oil is like politics and religion. Someone is going to get pissed. Been there too many times. That said, you are the first person I know who really loved a Demon carb. I have always liked the looks and wanted to try one, and you just gave a great review. Good luck.

I know when I bought my new Holley street avenger, I called Holley and talked to a TECH guy over the phone and he went through what carbs would work best with my application. I have had no problems with my Street Avenger.

the holley double pumper style carbs from Proform are pretty damn sweet for the money.

These Proform Street series carburetors are perfectly matched for your everyday driver. They are hand-assembled using Proform's high-flow, lightweight aluminum carburetor main body that has been CNC-machined. They use changeable screw-in air and high-speed bleeds and include high performance down-leg boosters. Attached to the main body is Proform's billet aluminum throttle base plate, which features adjustable power valve blowout protection, a corrosion-resistant anodized finish, button Torx head screws, and easy access to secondary idle airflow adjustment. The Proform Street series carburetors use billet aluminum metering blocks with changeable idle feed restrictors, non-stick gaskets and four corner idle system on mechanical secondary carburetors. The final components of the carburetors are the fuel bowls. They are manufactured from lightweight die-cast aluminum and feature fuel level sight windows, an externally adjustable needle and seat, dual-feed fuel inlets, and a notched secondary float. Finally, there is a cost-conscious carburetor that's built for the street. Get one of these Proform Street series carburetors and start performing better today.

Yea I know...can of worms! I've actually had 2 Demons...older 650 Speed Demon DP which ran good, but was RICH as all heck! Then the new Street Demon which was a really nice carb all the way around...not a race carb at all but a real good street carb as adverstised.

I know when I bought my new Holley street avenger, I called Holley and talked to a TECH guy over the phone and he went through what carbs would work best with my application. I have had no problems with my Street Avenger.

Interesting you say this! There's a 670SA just popped up on Craigslist in my town for $250obo...very tempting as I've never used one myself! I'm just nervous buying someone elses used carb that they've mucked with...nothing but trouble sometimes.

I have had several demon carbs with no issues. but agree with the previous posters this will be a can of worms. I think you can make any of those work.

Sorry...not that computer savvy! Or I forgot about the poll option...I plead the 5th.

Like the ProForm option....little more than I'd like to spend but tempting. Also not completely thrilled with the idea of running a mech secondary carb....I do mostly street cruising but I do like to take it to the track every chance I get. I'm torn.

I like the 3310. It's just a miracle of a carburetor.

From what you said in 360duster's thread I was sure you'd already pulled the trigger and ordered a new 750 Street Demon.
I always ran a Holley on my first '69 Dart. In fact, I started off with a 780-cfm vacuum secondary 3310, then went to a 750 double-pumper and finally ended up running a 850 double-pumper on it as it was built pretty big for a street driven car back in the early/mid '70s with a reverse-pattern manual shift 727 and 4.89 gears. The 750 just wasn't big enough for it on the top end.
I've been intrigued by the Street Demon design ever since I first saw it - reminds me of the old Holley 3-barrel carbs. I want to try one on the 380-horse crate motor in my current '69 Dart - if the car's ever finished - as it will be mainly a street car with an occasional trip to the track. I like the idea of cruising on the small primaries and crisp part-throttle response.
I talked to the Demon folks at SEMA just before they came out with the Street Demon. At that time I was thinking the annular boosters in the 750-cfm vacuum secondary Speed Demon (PN 1402020VE) would be the best for street use with my combo and they agreed. The annular boosters provide better atomization.
Again, that was before the Speed Demon came out. Now I'm liking the small primaries for freeway cruising as the best bet to try and squeeze the best possible mileage out of it.
Oh, and as previously said, Demon wet-flows their carbs so the flow ratings are true. Other brands typically dry-flow their flow their carbs so the published flow ratings are a little higher than actual.

Well I was close! Then got to thinking and looking at all the options....also realizing I really want to spend more time at the track and I rarely go on any trips in the 30mi plus range, but I do occasionally.

So...thus the waffling!

I agree with the annular boosters, and wet-flow vs dry-flow comments too...which is why the Summit carb is on the list! Both apply to it! Just nervous based on back/forth reviews of them. I can get any of them to work, forsure, but I'd like to pick the best suited one too.

Thanks for the comments! Keep 'em coming...this thread hasnt turned into a big bowl of oatmeal nobody cares to eat yet, so far informative and helpful.!:thumblef:

I like the 3310. It's just a miracle of a carburetor.

Been told by a few people that it is truly an old stand by. I've not ever run one myself, but price wise, it's a tempting one and a proven piece. I just like the features some of the comparables have too!

3310, rear metering block or plate/jet conversion and a spring kit.

I like the 4779 750 DP carb too.

What, no ede carbs? LOL

What, no ede carbs? LOL

LOL...nope. Had my fun with them. They are a decent carb but I'm not going there.:D

Thanks for weighing in Rob! That's a good plan w/ a 3310...didnt think about the jet conversion etc and all the goodies that are avail for the Holleys to make 'em nice to tune on.

...and dont ya think a 750 DP would be overkill for my setup? I know with enough work you can get anything within reason to work...but it seems like alot of carb for a little hot street 360?

Nope, I like 750DP's on those deals. Mileage is directly related to your right foot!

Had a similar build with 750DP, it got 20mpg on the highway and an OOTB carb. If I had an AF meter on it I bet it could have gotten another 1-2 mpg out of it.

Not worried about mileage at all...this is my fun car. I burn as much baby seal blood and orphan tears I can get my oily hands on. I get 20mpg in the Mountaineer when I feel like conserving dinosaur bones. LOL

When I plant the right foot to the floor I'd think a 750 DP would open up the fuel like a Hoover Dam break and I'd have a bog like no other followed by a rush of acceleration! Was thinking more of a 650 if I went double pumper? Talk me into a 750DP more? I know you've got experience on these things. I had a 650dp on my old '67 Dart w/ 340, .508 purple cam, Torker intake and 11:1 compression and it seemed like enough carb? It absolutely fried the tires at will w/ 3.23's and didnt run overly rich at idle. I may call ya to take this offline a little deeper...unless you like typing then I'm all ears. LOL

I know you said you didn't want to hear about carbs not listed in your original post, but I agree with mopardrt- I also have a Holley 670 street avenger and love it. I bought mine on ebay. It's a factory refurbished unit direct from Holley(seller id: holleyperformance).
And the best part is it was only $260!

No prob! Thanks for the vote! Have heard mixed comments on the SA's. But the positive comments are very much so....no middle ground. I'd like to try one.

Call me if you like. I do like the Double pumper series carbs.

Out of all the carburetors you listed I would choose the quick fuel slayer series, it has the most adjustability. Changeable idle air bleeds, changeable idle feed restrictors and power valve channel restrictors.

Surprised no one else mentioned the Q.F.

I run a proform 950 now great carb. Have run a standard holley 750 and woudln't run one again. Have run HP Holley, best carb going. Have run 2 Demon's, one was great one was crap. They had issues later on with production quality. I'm unsure of current quality. I've run an eddy 650. Ran great, lacked performance. Stock carbs aren't worth the effort in my opinion. I wouldn't run a vac secondary on anything.

So I hope all that pissed somebody off, lol. :happy1:

Well went with this one....Quick Fuel 750 Slayer! So far real nice! Nice improvement over the 625cfm Street Demon. Easy to get into sharp tune as well. Idle mixture/secondary etc. more vacuum too than with the Demon, not that it really matters to me. Pretty happy overall. Still would love to try a mech secondary like a Holley 650 DP for comparisons sake but overall the Quick Fuel is a real nice piece for the price! I upgraded the fuel line etc too. Rubber hose is temporary just to get it running..gonna go all AN hose and fittings eventually.
