This is the kid that hs been the main body and paint guy on this project. In fact this is the second car this kid has painted. I'm pretty proud of him.

Now comes the color sanding which won't take much and the buffing. As soon as that gets done I can start to reassemble.

I hate you. I have the same car same color with the 340 in it and I'm fighting the urge to do what you're doing. This is how it looked in 93. After some years of driving and then 25 on jack stands the paint looks very worn.

That was what I was looking for when I bought my car, a driveable project. looking good. I love the 68s however I'm still partial to the 70 340 Swingers. That's what I was looking for when I found my GTS.

Your car looks great. Is it a 340/4speed?

It's an automatic with factory tach. Your project is tempting me to do the same while the car is in such good condition. At the very least it needs a coat of paint but I have a hard time doing things half arsed, as my Dad would put it.

Making progress. Vinyl top this weekend and headlinner Monday. I get the seat frames from the guy doing the seats Monday so I can paint them. Working on finishing up all the bolt-ons on the engine. want to get as much installed on the engine to reduce the amount of bending over the fender.

Hey, Hey, I just looked back through your thread and I see that your car was built on the SAME day as my 68 GTS 383. Dec 28th. You can see my fender tag on the first page of my resto thread. Tell me what camshaft you used on that build, and I never saw you post the flow numbers on the exhaust manifolds.

Thought I would get in a little in-progress on the the 68 GTS.

Engine compartment almost ready for the engine. I have to get it up on the hoist so the fuel lines and brake lines as well as the fuel tank can be installed. Next will be the rear end assembly which is ready as a unit for install. Front end will be mated up to a US Tools engine cradle where I can then install the engine and tranny. Of course every thing will be installed from the bottom of the car.

As you can see from the pics the vinyl top is done as well as the headliner. I finished up on the floor insulation last weekend. I still need to do the doors.

The seats are all done. Waiting on a lower steering column bearing which is on back order. Purchased a new grill and HL bezels from Vans. Good quality parts

Things are coming together.

Poor kid already has a painters hunch back. LOL!

What brand quarter panels did you install? Any major issues with them?

Sorry for taking too long to reply.

All replacement sheet metal except top is AMD. no issues except we forgot the jack hold down tab and the front jack brace. Had to add after we painted the car. It was a real PIA

I'll have to ressurect those flow numbers. They are on my buddies flow bench data base.

I'll also get you the cam specs. It was a special Comp grind that my engine builder used.

Sorry for not posting for awhile. my mom passed away and had to tend to her business.

Anyway, been working on getting all the trim on. Got the floor insulation in, vinyl top is installed, headliner installed, headlight buckets etc. pretty much finished with the trunk area with the exception for the fuel filler tube and vent tube. That will have to wait until I get the car on the rack and install the tank

Focusing on the wiring. All new harnesses from M&H through Mr Moparts and Classic Industries. Finally got the under dash harness the other day (back ordered). Unfortunatly it was short the harness for the console. Apparently they don't provide that. I called the tech line for M&H and they walked me through the issue. I had to remove the console harness from the old harness and install the leads into the bulkhead connector (two wires, one violet and one white). The orange wire went to the fuse box. I guess the real test is when I power everything up. I have a buddy that works at an automotive electrical shop. When he gets a chance he'll come over with his magical black box and circuit test everything.

Have to take a break in a few weeks and start my move to Phoenix with the first load. Taking my 71 RR down, stopping at MATS on the way down. The car will be for sale (have to thin the herd) and if doesn' sell it will be put into storage in Phoenix an will wait until next January when I can take it to the auctions.

The engine, trans, rearend are all ready to go. Will mate everything up on my new engine cradle I got from HARMS (Scott Smith). Won't install in the car until I get back from Phoenix.

I've worked on the lighting so this weekend I should have some pictures to post.

Sorry to hear about your Mom!

You are doing doing some nice work!

M&H makes some good harness's. I had them custom make a few that are not on their offering from Year One. I sent them the old ones and they sent me a new ones plus the original's back.

Thanks guys. I asked the about making a new console harness and they said they wouldn't

Finally got some time on the rack. Installed all the hard lines, brake and fuel, fuel tank and filler tube. Finished engine compartment lines and installed heat shield. Minor setback. apparently I ordered the wrong e-brake kit. I need the kit that has both cables situated on the driver side. The main cable is real long so I hope to pick one up at MATS.
