Anyone using Walker SS Quiet flow mufflers ? are they quieter that dynomax super turbos? Any thoughts on Quiet flows ???

I have quite flows on the wife's Durango and it is near stock sounding.

I made a little video for you today.

This is my Dart,
318 4bbl, with 340 cam, 340 exhaust manifolds, 2-1/4" dual exhaust with an H-pipe, and Walker Quietflows. Not sure what you meant by SS, unless they make a stainless steel version. Mine are not stainless.

Anyway, maybe this will give you an idea of the sound and volume of them. I've never tried the super turbo's so hard to make a comparison.

I like these a lot, nice sound but not loud at all. Very quiet inside the car when on the road, and no droan. When driving I hear the engine itself more than I hear the exhaust.

Enjoy

When my car is done, I want it to be it silent but deadly, don't want draw unwanted attention (cops) to my driving.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. thanks for the video. Do you know what the part number was for the mufflers ??

Good luck on getting part numbers. I emailed Walker technical support for a list of Quiet Flow mufflers -oval, offset 2.5" inlet, centered 2.5" outlet, aluminized steel. Guy keeps telling me if I will give him the length, he will try to match a part number. WTH? - how many damned 2 1/2" oval mufflers can they make? Must be at least three, maybe four.

In the same vein, I emailed Summit asking who manufactures the mufflers on their 2 1/2" exhaust kit and the specifications. They email me and tell me that the manufacturer is not in the listing. Damn, I can read the listing, why did they think I asked? If they aren't proud enough to tell who manufactures their product, I'm not stupid enough to buy it!
Sorry for the rant. I guess I'm being too picky by wanting to know what the hell I'm buying.

Imco short case turbo mufflers...

I just installed the summit 21/2 exhaust. heartthrob S43122
2-1/2" single offset 13" 17.5" label on the box. same muffler as the imco t901.
no drone and nicesound when on the gas, mellow cruise.

I was looking at Summit SUM-680144 header-back kit. All the listing has is "single inlet/single outlet - Turbo"

My question:
"I'm looking at Sum-680144 exhaust system for my B'cuda. I would like to know the brand and specs for the mufflers. Also, wanted to verify that the system will fit the 68 Barracuda. Thanks - Jim"

Their answer:
"The muffler is a standard turbo style muffler. Manufacturer is not listed.

AC"

They really put out a lot of effort for that answer!

I looked at the Summit listing for the Imco T901 - 1.75" inlet/outlet 18.50" OAL??

I used to work with exhaust parts, and the paper catalog from Walker had a quite substantial section with mufflers listed of different kinds. I think the walker guy is doing you a nice service, and saving alot of work for himself in not listing all the variants available that fits the wide open criteria.
give him the information he is looking for and im sure he will find the part you need.

Those sound great. If you guys want loud you can always install some cut outs. Then with a flip of the switch you can have the best of both worlds. tmm

Apparently you didn't read the post that you quoted! How do you figure that what I was asking was "wide open criteria"?

Walker
Quiet-Flow
2.5" offset inlet
2.5" centered outlet
oval
Aluminized steel

Probably only two Walker mufflers fit that criteria.
"saving alot of work for himself" ? To look up two or three mufflers?

Since the Quiet-Flow series is a stock replacement style series of muffler there might be a whole bunch of mufflers that fits that criteria in bunch of different lenghts, i will agree that there is fewer cars that use mufflers that fits you critera compared to the same in 2" or 2 1/4" but i doubt you ever had a look in a walker catalog that lists there whole assortment of mufflers of the stock replacement kind.
if i had still been working in the exhaust bussines i would have been happy to give you some assistance in this but at present i can only give you alitle information about the probable reason for the reply you got from walker.

And quite honestly it could not be that hard to answer that email from walker, instead of complaining here about how the techguy wants you to give him the needed information he needs to help you..

Walker 21856 will fit and A body and has a 19" case and is offset center. I'll keep looking.

Walker 22427 is the same with 2 3/8" outlet.
22589 is a 16" shell. Will fit A-body.

That is about all I see in my 2012, 1995 and older catalog. I'll see what newer ones I can find that are 2.5" offset center, up to 19" case size.

What?? Now I'm not allowed to complain about lackadaisical performance?? If you expect me to be politically correct, it ain't gonna happen!

Here's the catalog section for SuperTurbos. I have the entire Walker Catalog in PDF format if anybody wants it, but the Quiet-Flow is not in there. Maybe because they are newer?
I'm building the system to fit 92 Dakota manifolds. The system will be custom from the manifold back, most likely getting original ends that mate to the manifolds and welded to the downpipe section. Being a Mechanical Engineer, I have been trained to build according to specification. Therefore, I would like to have the specifications for OAL to build the system to the correct length and component placement.
I worked in Headquarters Technical Support for many years in the telecommunications industry. My customers were within the company, but they were customers. It was my job to fix their problem no matter what. If I had to get on a plane with no notification, then that's what I did. Didn't matter what my plans were. I did my job and did it well!
I don't see why it's an imposition to ask a customer support representative for specifications. He gets paid whether he has to find one muffler or one hundred. I'm asking him for the information related to OAL, so how can I give him what I'm asking for? I don't manufacture the mufflers, he does.
BTW, I did respond to his reply and did not receive a return response.

68 coupe, I can get some good info. Tell me any length and size restrictions and i'll work on it for you. (same for you Rustytools)
Tom

Thanks Tom, I appreciate that! I'm gathering information for the system now, trying to determine whether to buy a pipe kit with mufflers or no mufflers. I'm like a lot of these other guys that wants a nice sound, not too loud. I really like the sound of Milehighdart's system. That's why I wanted the OAL on the Quiet-Flows. What is the maximum length for the a-body? Seems to be around 18 to 20 inches?
I have a good pair of Silver Knight? 2" mufflers that came on the car. I thought about buying the adapters for 2 1/2" pipe and installing those until I found the particular muffler that I want to settle on. If I can get the OAL for the Quiet-Flow, I can mock-up these, install, then swap out later. I want to be satisfied with the sound level before I do the final installation. Thanks
