Looking at installing a Hayden 2765 clutch fan in 65 Dart. Only have 3.5" room and this one keeps popping up in forums concerning a short clutch for clearance. Any suggestions on fan blade? Steel or aluminum, does it matter?

Subscribed.

I have heard of lots of people using the Hayden clutch, but don't know if they were using stock fan or not. Someone will set us straight.

Subscribed as well. Just installed new champion radiator and no room for a viscous clutch fan I had on my 360.

DartThis74 (Aaron) is my son and we finally worked this out on his Dart. The Hayden clutch did work perfectly on his 360 with the Champion radiator. We used the OEM five-blade fan and the hole spacing lined up exactly. There is approximately 3/4" clearance between fan and radiator. It was a pain in the posterior to get the bolts installed and tightened (very tight quarters). With this setup, the engine temp barely gets above the first tick mark on the gauge, and we still haven't come up with a solution for what to do about a shroud.

I have a Champion 4 core, longer aluminum 70-up water pump, and run the 2765 fan clutch.

I made my fan shroud. step by step details here: Building a custom Fan Shroud: Pic by pic

This is great info. We looked through all the fan clutches at my local NAPA store and couldnt find one that was short enough for my dart. That one will work for sure. I will be ordering one next week. Nice job on the the fan shroud too.

I typically use a 17" 6 bladed fan from an early A body car with A/C! Contact member SSVDP, he has one listed for $20!
