1965 Dodge Dart Charger

Thanks for all the gratulations. As mentioned before and as I told some members at the car show, this couldn't been done without the FABO members knowledge.

One of the things the head judges deducted points for was the windshield looking strip. It was tuff to make all corners in good shape even if I used a hair dryer and hot water. At the Nats I met up with Jim at DMT, Detroit Musclecar Technoligies and he got the last piece of the NOS lookingstrip. He will dig into making a repopped version exactly like mine. That might help up for others as well.

Ulf, good to know you got good use of my treasure despite the point deduction. I'm glad it might help others to get the correct windshield locking strip. Many years in storage take it's toll! My own locking strip is still in pretty nice condition but the windshield look sand blasted from many years on Swedish roads.

Thord! I am so grateful that I was able to buy that looking strip from you. That was one of the last pieces to the puzzle before finishing it up.

I'm glad that DMT will make a repop and helping the FABO community to get the correct part for their cars.

Wow. Just wow. I'm so impressed. Congratulations!

Will there be any coverage of this amazing accomplishment in swedish magazines? Sure haven't heard anything on the news ...

Hi Ulf,
Congrats on both shows! Your car is beyond amazing. I sure wish I could have seen it in real life and had the chance to meet you. Did the Mopar Muscle Magazine or Mopar Action magazine guys stop by to get a story? Thanks for providing a sample of the NOS windshield strip to James at DMT too. Hopefully he can provide the correct replacement for our cars in the future.

Thanks for the nice comments!

For alternator & starter restoration - great folks!

Phoenix powder coating for the great job on the valve covers!!!!

But something alarming has happened. If you go to their website, you'll see "We no longer sell any NOS parts". Any idea what happened? Someone come along and buy 'em out or something?

Dan!

When going from the Nats to Detroit we stopped by at Al's house and had dinner with him and his wife. He then told me that 6 months ago a guy called him up about all the 150 000 NOS parts he had and after some negotiating he finally bought it all. So from now on Al will focus on just the repopped stuff. He feels older and what's some more time. Can't blaim him.

He has sold a lot of NOS parts for the hobby over the years.

Sounds like a nice meal. I almost got to meet Gary Goers in a similar fashion in 2011, but the driving route didn't work out. Wonder who bought out Al. He was a straight shooter with a good inventory of reasonably-priced parts.

This car is awesome. Do you have another car in the future that you want to do.

Both NOS Candy Canes and front NOS hood trim

so glad I could help out

Anders! There was an article in the July edition of Classic Motor. There will also be an article in another Swedish Magazine later this year.

Okay, thanks! I'll see if I can still find a copy. :happy1: Do you think you can post a notice when that other mag is published?

I saw the cover of Mopar Collectors Guide. Congratulations Ulf!

They did a lot of questions about my car but I never thought it would end up the the cover.

While I was working on the ashtray I was mad not finding a NOS one for my car. After glass beading almost 30 of them I took the one that was closest and sent it to US for right finish.

It looks very good but I got some points off for not being 100%.

Well last weekend I was at a swapmeet looking for what ever part. On top on a shelf wss an NOS ash tray for early A-bodies!! Asking price usd 3 so I bought it!!

It was! I got the latest issue of MCG yesterday and the 7 page story was great. They got the right twist on it. I said that I had a lot of help from FABO but they put it I met up with A-body entusiasts.

Ulf, awesome to find a NOS ashtray on a local swapmeet, I never did but luckily the first owner never smoked in the car so it is in good condition. But he did smoke in the garage so the car was kind of contaminated outside when I got it.

I will see if I'm able to make a tool so I can change the ashtray before MCACN. You know it's riveted together so I need to make new rivets. We'll see what we can come up with.
