NO MORE CAMPING AT CARLISLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
I know the 400/500k sounds like a lot in walk ins but I can't imagine the cost to run the show. Just payroll each day. Insurance etc. I feel it's a great value to see and do for a weekend. It's cheaper than taking my kids to the jersey shore for one night.

have to make room for all those new jeep, challengers, chargers and crap like that..

made me laugh the other day. they announced a a new record on the number of cars in the show field.. the new record is misleading. its all th enew crap that pushed the numbers up.

i used to go from wed to sunday. stopped going a few years ago. something just isn't the same any more. went last year only because we did some family things with other friends earlier in the week. hit the show for two days and couldn't wait to get home.. i liked socializing with a few guys that i only see there but other then that i just can't get into ti any more.. if i have that weekend off from work in the future maybe i'll cruise there for the day and walk the swap meet but i won't waste the vacation days for it any more.

Once again, greed wins out over the wellness of the people!! On a good note, the Nats is now allowing camping on the grounds, which we will be doing for the first time this year!!
thats because the nats is shrinking from everything i see and hear from friends that go and what others post.

Denny, I believe someone said it was 10 bucks a day, or 20 bucks for all 3 days. I'll say this.... to me it should not be more than 6- 7 bucks a day to be a spector IMO. In my earlier post, I had mentioned 2-3 years ago, it was said that there were over 45k walk thru's (people) you are talking almost 400-500k if you pay 10 bucks a day to get in. Also, don't forget that many spectators eat there, buy soda, water, hats, t-shirts, and any other kind of memorabilia at the show! Nothing wrong with making money, you just have realize how much coin they are really making at these shows. Dodge33

man i didn't think $10 for a day was bad.,. they do have bills to pay ya know.. i can see bitching if it was 20 dollars a day but for 10 i don't think its bad..

I think the Nats is suffering from all of the same issues that the hobby is suffering....lower numbers, higher prices, and the hotels and campgrounds around the area are stupid high!! I have 2 rooms reserved at the Red Roof, 3 miles from the track...$164 a night!!! We're camping right at the track this year, and having a big sell off of my parts stash!! Time to downsize I guess, and be part of the problem!!!

camping out is an affordable ( somewhat??). and enjoyable way for many people to attend these shows. some can not afford the stupid motel prices, the low end motels are bug traps and scudzy.

We have used the camping as a way of saving money so we are there for the whole weekend but it seems the law of supply and demand are working overtime.
In Carlisle I had heard 200.00 a night during the show now I don't know if that's true or not but even so it's a lot of money for a hotel room.
I agree with abodyjoe it seems the vendor spaces had a lot of unused spots this year. I never saw the big mass of people walking the vendor area like it was 4-5 years ago. I didn't walk the whole show field but the A-body and B-body's seem to be full I can't speak about the other areas.
But I go back my original thoughts why do away with the camping area inside the fair grounds for a show that seems to an outsider to be getting smaller both in vendors and foot traffic.

the nats is suffering because its an unorganized **** hole. the same complaints from the people who attend are posted every year.

gas is dirt cheap this year. should free up a ton of cash for people..

I can tell you this.....Jim Belinda must be old school as all heck because you can't regisyer anything online, have to send a check to a PO box, never get a call back to answer any questions about the camping, nothing!! Like dealin with the local WPC club, which is manned by 2 old dudes with a pen, paper and an old table map to mark out swap spots!!

However, with that said, I usually sell pert near every item I take to sell at the Nats, so I will continue to go and pay the meager entry fee!!

I hear ya. When or if the time comes when the new stuff over takes the old, I will never go again. If I want to see any newer challengers, darts & chargers I will go to my local dealership & it will be cheeper

Really, I started camping on the grounds when it was known as the Mopar Nationals. Our club had at the height of our member ship had 44 spots. Then the Queens, as they thought they were, The Northeast Hemi Association complained and we lost our camping spots. I noticed at this year show there still members of that group camping on grounds. If anyone is interested there is a excellent camp grounds less than 5 miles from the Fairgrounds. Pluses full hook ups and a pool. Minuses you can't walk to you camper and get out of the heat, my son you is 21 and been to every show since his birth misses that. If any one is interested the camp grounds is Western Village there phone number is 717-243-1179 they are great people either Bonny or Deb will be happy to help. This year full hookup was 48.00 a night if you stay 5 night one is free. give it a shot you will love it..

The vendor spots have to be re-newed in October if you want to keep your same spaces. I have 7 spots @$90.00 a spot. Do the math, they get my money almost 8 months in advance. Only way to get a discount is to re-new your spaces at the end of the show! My friend has 7 spots and did not get there this year that's 1 reason why the back row looked empty.
