SO many people, particularly women, are feeling the need to own a handgun.

I conduct a class in basic handgun safety, operation, and security (as in "how to keep it safely secured").

No self defense, no license to carry, just "how do I do this well and be safe about it".

I'm not trying to hustle business here, just sharing the reviews on our FP page of which I'm very proud.

The class works well, and we have a 100% success rate.

2 hours in the classroom using high-end airsoft guns both revolver and semi

1 hour at the live range using six different handguns of multiple calibers.

New shooters not only learn how to be safe, but they can make an informed decision about which, if any, handgun fits their needs.

You're welcome to read the reviews and look at the pictures here: Train2Shoot.net | Facebook

Thanks! There is definitely an increase in the number of "normal" people who feel the need to have personal protection close by. When my wife and I got our carry permits, I wanted her to have a good class. We found an all day class that was basic classroom stuff in the morning and range in the afternoon. She feels much more comfortable handling weapons since.

By chance did you see the "What Would You Do" television Friday or Saturday night? They did a segment in a gun store in a San Antonio mall where a guy was buying a new gun for his young son (11 years old, I think) and a women actor would speak up saying the boy is too young. EVERYONE (they showed) that spoke up, defended the dad and said how great he is for teaching his son the correct way. One women even told asked the women why she was in a gun store if she was against guns!!

Have you noticed an uptick in interest after certain events? We are stationed in California and recently my neighbors, some very Liberal leaning, have casualy brought up getting a gun to me lately. My Best friend's wife, a staunch Bay Area anti gunner (anti-other people having guns lol) even picked my brain about it last week.

Ranges and LGS have been popping up localy too.

You bet.

People are buying guns and setting purchase records nearly every month.

I'm also training more real estate agents than ever.

They dress up like models.
Meet a stranger at an empty house.

I mean, that checks all the boxes, doesn't it?

Good to see, Men and Women both should know how to respect and handle a firearm safely.
Every person needs to be able to protect themselves,
their family and home when its needed. It could be too late when help can arrive.

That's exactly when my wife and I got our carry permits. We had both just started selling real estate and a women was "set up"and attacked from the brokerage we worked. Our concealed carry instructor said the only time he pulled his concealed weapon was when he was a real estate agent. A vagrant was living in the house he was showing and came after him...until he pulled his weapon. Anytime my wife was working clients without me along, she would casually tell them she "protects" herself.

Without this thread ending up in N & P, just let me say I'm happy to see John and Jane Doe taking steps to protect themselves from riff raft.

SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!
How many of you guys are going to be in a "well regulated militia" as the second amendment says? Just saying......
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

"Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers." ~George Mason

Just sayin'.

SCOTUS has upheld this notion as well. Read up on the decisions affirming ownership and it becomes clear that even today scholars agree that the intention 'back when' was to allow people free ownership and use of their firearms for protection of themselves.

Oh looky, a book written by Bill Clinton's former speech writer and policy coordinator. Should be absolutely non-biased, slant, and rhetoric free!

Good grief.

Of course something has to be said when the proof is in your face.

I'm happy for OP's success, but I'm not so sure it's good for lots of people to be arming themselves. Yes, law-abiding citizens should be allowed to own guns, and in fact I grew up with them in the house and I learned to handle them safely at an early age. Certainly those who do own guns should be trained to operate them safely. And I understand people want to feel safe. However, feeling safe isn't the same as being safe. I'm curious how many people here actually know someone who used a gun in self-defense and was better off for it. I don't know anyone like that, but I do know someone who is paralyzed from the neck down since the age of 3 when his 5-year-old brother found a gun in the back seat of another family's car and shot little brother in the head.

While we are at it, let's evaluate the safety of these dangerous cars we drive and take into account every solitary instance of negligence and present it as the norm.

I teach firearm safety to those who own a handgun or are considering owning one.

You let her shoot a semi auto in open toed shoes?
That's not very safe, ejecting brass can burn those tootsies

I see the training you are doing as a needed thing and I hope it grows to be more the norm than not.
I like what your doing.
There are no programs like that I know of here.
The more properly trained citizens the better.
Kinda a two edged sword.
I see it as if I have the right to have a gun then
I have to give others the right also. I'm completely fine with this.
It doesn't mean I feel safe around everyone that may have a gun under this equality. But the majority for sure. At least in our small community.
But I do prefer I keep my gun even if it allows some that it turns out shouldn't have had them. They are the minority.
To keep everyone from owning a gun over the actions of a few would leave the majority defenseless
against law breakers, the only ones who would then have a gun.
I have owned guns since I was young growing up in a rural area like nearly everyone else here, but I rarely ever get them out since I now live in town. I doubt I will ever have to or want to but I will never give them up. And no one else should.
I see training as the better solution. Good deed.

Why nitpick,a small thing(lady in open toed shoes, real estate lady)?.... She shoots at someone, most likely dressed that way...a job..) Please keep this ,out of P & N...... I like this thread...

....Please keep this out of Politics & News...... I like this thread...

Why people feel the need to start gun threads on a car forum, I'll never know.

This thread will blow up because it's a hot topic and people hold very firm views on the subject. Politics and News is EXACTLY where this thread belongs......because (as the fanboys repeatedly state in every gun thread on the forum), it's all about the second amendment :).

Thanks, I actually don't think there's anything political or controversial about teaching firearm safety.

It's a fun sport.

Several of my students now shoot target matches.
