Wait a minute! You mean sarcasm doesn't translate to online forums very well?

The perception of sarcasm is heavily dependent on the intonation, the facial expression, and body language, and even the relationship, of the one delivering it, to the one receiving it.
I have been with my wife for over 40 years, and I totally understand her delivery.Sadly, she has no clue when I deliver. To placate the situation involves waaay more time then I am willing to give up, so I find it best not to overwhelm her with my insensitive boorishness.
So when she asks if she looks good in a certain dress, I say yes dear, that dress looks very nice on you.I don't tell her it would look just as good on a camel. It's a great dress, really. I don't tell her it would look good on anybody. If she chooses to go out in that dress, hey,let someone else tell her it's two sizes too small, 4 inches too short, and it makes her look fat.

Hilarious. Simply hilarious.

Hey folks,
Just wanted too take a second thank everyone for your replies, support and comments. Even the "sarcastic banter".
Have a Blessed day!

Things change. People don't always do the same.
I've been a member, a Gold Member and a Vendor almost since the inception and have mainly enjoyed it. There's one guy I try to avoid the last few years (who seems to regularly visit my profile for some reason) but for the most part, I think those who post often truly want to help, and the good / beneficial far outweigh the bad.
I'd still prefer to see more "information" threads than For Sale ads though. The bigger the site gets, the more it resembles a Mopar-only Craig's List. I miss The Family Feel ... the "oh I met him and we had a great visit," and the glimpses into each other's daily lives that the chat room provided.
As a side note, most of my work from 2009-2014 came from FABO members; nowadays it's more like 10-15%. We just don't have the familiarity, good vibes, personal relationships or get a chance to build any anymore. I know the links and signature lines of the past introduced me to many new or unfamiliar names and services that became invaluable over the years. My own website reports have shown a steady decline in FABO referrals just since the new format went live, and I'd bet the same for the other personally-involved Vendors here too. People want to deal with PEOPLE .... not a banner ad.
I miss that.

Lol...... Take it with a grain salt..... Countless people I have met are only Keyboard Commandos behind a screen and in real life are nothing what you were expecting.

Go to the Bullet and watch the antics on there and how people treat each other. Now that will just make you want to go play Tennis or something..... They recently had someone going a little too far over there with someone and did not realize who they were talking to until the member wanted to do a meet and greet. It got Lol after that....

As master Yoda would say, "A wise man, you are"...

I would agree there's a bit to much of attitudes, beat downs, and name calling. But you think this site is bad, don't ever visit yellowbullit, its a free for all !

Ok I'm not one to rant in a public forum and I'm not pointing fingers at any one individual but, I've been seeing a upward trend in the "name calling" going on in some of the forums. In our hobby there are hundreds if not thousands of differing opinions concerning this and that. Some valid, some can seem pretty far out there. But I see no benefit from calling anyone or their ideas and thoughts stupid, idiotic, moronic etc. etc. I have two friends, one I happened to meet through the other, who's opinions I value. Both men are 70+ years old and have been friends, racing and building motors since before i was born. I have gotten advice from both of them on many issues. They have differing opinions on a lot of things. Both are very opinionated and believe their way is the best, yet I have never heard either one bad mouth the other or anyone else for that matter. I have learned so much from both of these men. I respect that they are able to voice their thoughts and opinions without tearing the other down. So I guess what I'm really getting at is, Really? This forum is the best thing I've seen for helping others with similar interests. From the newbies to the old timers, from the restorers to the all out racers. We all have something to learn from each other. I'd like to see more help and less beat downs. Also, I do understand that quite a few of the beat downs Ive seen were started by someone posing a question, and then brow beating any responses, just looking for the confrontation. To those I choose to click over to the next thread. Anyway now that I'm obviously rambling I will stop this rant. I do believe that FABO is by far the best site on the web for the Mopar enthusiast! Lets keep it that way! Everyone Have A Great Day!

Mark
thanks for that- Sally... :poke:

....and it's not even winter yet!!!!
THANKS for that- Sally... :poke:

I apologize. I will try to be less of an a$$hole.. sometimes i just forget my manners..
as if you actually HAVE manners - - Sally...:poke:

Snowflakes. ....lol
what was that Snowflake Sally? - :poke:

The men you speak of have earned each others respect. It is a feat not so easily obtained digitally. A lot of the banter is just good fun if your skin is thick enough. Being a line mechanic for 30 plus years will give you thick skin. Sarcasm rarely works on an online discussion forum... you Pansy:drama::lol:.
perfect! Sally... :poke:

I have been here a long time, since before Joey bought the site. The population has exploded exponentially bringing a lot of different personalities and personality disorders as referenced above. I joined because I had an A body Barracuda to build and I knew I could not do it without help. For the most part, I have gotten all the help one could ask for. That said I have wandered into threads that I wish I had not, time out of my life I will never get back. This was founded as a car enthusiast site and as such in my mind that is what it should be. I don't do any other social media so I do not know how the game is played. I snowmobile so I joined SnowWest. I built a Comet to I joined a Ford Falcon site because it was the closest I could find to Comet-same platform. I no longer post to either of those sites, only this one. My Barracuda is nearly finished and I will be moving on to a site that has 40 Ford enthusiasts as that will be my next build.
All that said, my stay here has been for the most part enjoyable. I would like to see the baiting and name calling stop but I don't expect that to actually happen so I take it as it is and ask the questions relevant to building my car and post my build experience on my build thread in the hope I can pay a bit of it forward to the next guy needing help.
I am glad Mark originated this thread, it needed to be talked about, thanks.
Big day in the shop tomorrow on final assembly---------------DR out-------------------cheers to all-----------------:) oh yeah, GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Sorry. I didn't realize that visiting your profile 6 times a day was stalking. I'll try to cut it back to 4.... i still think you're hawt tho! Now where is that Sally SOB?

It would be nice if the forum software allow the "for sale" and "wanted" forums to be separated from the general discussion.
