So I am in love with this intake....it's sexy as hell.

But I'm not a carb guy, never have been, so I'm here to learn, and I'll need lots of help.

The intake manifold is an Offenhauser and is in extremely good condition, number on base is "5916" I believe, can't find any info on it. It has been recently re-done and powder coated.

Carbs are supposed to be Stromberg Carbs, completely rebuild and "ready to go" although they are obviously missing fuel lines and linkage.

Anyone know where/what linkage setup I would need?

Also, should all 3 carbs have a choke, or just 1? (Center is the only one with a choke)

What else is missing? I ordered "The Mopar Six-Pack Engine Handbook HP1528" but it hasn't come in yet.

Also, would I need to change cams going from a 3-barrel to a 6-pack?

Thanks in advance fellas!

Cool stuff.

If you google offenhauser you may find that there is someone still messing with that stuff.

Very cool. Not some cookie cutter crap **** junk.

You will not have to change cams. You WILL need to tune it to what ever you have or further modify it into.
You should be ableto find linkage kits, but, if it proves to hard, fabbing up your own shouldn't be "Hell" to do.

Am I correct in assuming an adjustable "progressive" setup would work better? The 2 most common styles I find are these 2:

Depends on you.

A progressive set up makes use of the center carb first and then the out boards later. Set up to open all 3 crabs all the way by full push of the pedal. Bennifit? Probable better gas mileage with the center use of the carb alone at low throttle pressures. (AKA Light foot) Draw back. Possible pain to set up. Primary first, end carbs second and removed at the same time.

The 1 to 1 set up allows all three carbs to work at once, as one carb. Bennifit? Full power at all times is available. No brainer set up. Draw back? All 3 carbs are working delivering fuel. When tuning, all 3 carbs are removed for jet adjustment.

But this is normal steps to take with multiple carbs. Nothing new here.

How many cfm's are those carbs?

I'm still trying to figure out which ones they are, they are 2 barrel, obviously, but beyond that all I know is what I posted earlier.

Do you have these on hand?
Look for some numbers of the carb.
I'd like some overhead and under the carb shots IF you can. No worries if not.

No, I'm at work until 9, then it's home to plow, and IF by chance I remember, I'll take some more pics and upload them. I'll try to remember, I truly appreciate the help!

OH! Yea man, you got that storm coming in. It dumpped 14inches here. I hope it ramps DOWN for you guys up there. Wicked forecast you have there. 2 feet overnight? I know what thats all about! Got 3 feet overnight here once. BOY that sucked!
Be safe buddy!

Yeah, this will be our 2nd 2-footer+ this year, lol, when i left for work this morning we were at about 20", and it's pretty much snowed all day. Looks like we're getting another foot Wednesday, too, lol!

I will say tho, 2 feet in NYC is WAY WORSE than 2 feet in Maine, lol!

Thanks man!

LOL, yes it is. Proper snow removal in feet, is not a known strategy. NYC isn't north enough to really know of these heavy snow falls. Real estate is also an issue. The rivers aren't a viable solution to put snow.

After plowing tonight, my truck is a leveled F350 on 35s, sitting just under 7' tall, I'm 6' 1" and couldn't see over the snow bank.

I think (THINK because I'm not up on old two barrel carbs) those are 97's, as in Stromberg 97's.

There is a copious amount of stuff written on these things because they were all that, and a bag of chips back in the day.

Very, very VERY cool indeed.

LOL, that's funny ... and correct.
I just know off hand what they flow.

I wonder if a 440 would have driveability issues if the carbs are linked non-progressive,especially at low speeds.More so with a manual tranny.
A long time ago a fella brought me his 389 Poncho, auto, for that very issue. I converted it to progressive and he was a happy guy.

The progressive set up, should be the most driveable and friendly.

I love those old intakes too. I just got done with a resto / customization on a different vintage Offy TriPower for a customer (had to share pics since it's Rumblefish Rob's favorite color :D but with a twist this time). Best of luck with your setup ToMang!
