I have a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340. The engine was bored 30 over with a hemi-grind purple shaft cam(largest recommended for street use with an automatic(I believe the ratios are 284-284-60, and did ever upgrade to compliment that according to the Direct Connection manual I was following for that cam). I put in a shift kit and the rear end is 3.23. The ignition was changed to eliminate the vacuum aspect and is now centrifical. I'd like to get the most out of this engine but still retain driveability for cruising around. I do not know what the stock converter stall speed is (2800 maybe? or so I was told) but it just doesn't seem to be a match for what I have done. Could someone suggest the correct stall speed converter to use? Thanks.

It appears your r&p is a little tall . Suggest 3.55-3.70 . If that doesn't make you smile then work on the converter . 2800 rpm stall is pissa for the street if it is indeed 2800 . There are ways to confirm this in the car . There is a sticky somewhere . Good luck , sounds like fun .

I think if you are interested in a good cruiser, you already made some mistakes both in the cam choice and the ignition changes. That's why the convertor doesn't feel like it's working right and I'd bet it's down on power from where you wanted it. Where are you in CT?

Edit - I see you're in Vernon. I grew up there and have a bunch of friends in town. I'm about 25 minutes from you. PM me if you want to get together and chat sometime.
