I recently purchased a 66 Dart with the 225 "charger" slant 6 under the hood. I purchased it because it is very complete and the former owner was a((Is a)) marine. As a young vet myself and this being the first car my dad ever let me "drive"((say in his lap and pretended to drive)). I grabbed her.

The motor is seized up. Big time. Last known drive was 75. I've let marvel mystery oil and a mix of wd40 and liquid wrench sit in the cylinders for over a week now and haven't got the engine to budge even a little from the crank yet.

I need to find a another slant 6 225. I figured this would be the place to start.

Mopar or No car!

A 63-66 slant will bolt right in. If you use a 67 slant, you will need to swap your 66 oil pan and pickup to the replacement motor. If the new motor is a 68-up, you will need to install the crank bushing to work with your 66 transmission's small snout torque converter in addition to swapping the oil pan/pickup. If your 66's carburetor is rod actuated, you will probably need to swap the carb as well or convert to the early A cable operated set-up. You might contact Charrlie_S who is in FL and deals in slants as well as sells the bushings I mentioned. Good luck on your search.

What if I bought someone's tranny/engine together?

I wish you were closer, I have a 1966 Dart 225 engine sitting, bad rod bearing but still ran. The engine. was removed from a 66' Dart GT convertible.

I wonder how something like that could be shipped? Or if it would be worth the effort we'd put in? Obviously the car would be

In that case just swap the oil pan/oil pickup if it's a 67 later since the transmission's torque converter is already match to fit the crank. Transmission shift linkage should bolt right up whether floor or column shift. Your Dart might have the cable set-up as a lot of 66's came with them; otherwise swap you rod carb or find the cable set-up..

I've used Forward Air to both ship and receive motors. Got a 340 short block out of CA and another 340 long block out of IL - both cost me $195. Shipped a long block Honda motor (son's) to AR. The main issue with using Forward Air is the shipment must be dropped at one f their terminals and pre-paid and picked up on the other end at their terminal. You might also check Fastenal.

So right around $200 for shipping. Not that horrible I guess

I have a slightly built low mileage great running slant six in my A100 that I will be pulling soon (a built 360 to take its place) Ive been contemplating when to pull it out, as its fully functioning, but the vans been off the road for 8 months, is uninsured and likely to remain that way with it in or out. I can give details of all work done if of any interest to you. Also have an extra rebuilt stock cylinder head. Engine has the adapter plate and crank flange extension plate so a A727 small block trans bolts right up.

Maybe I missed it,,, what state - city is the original poster located??

It could go Fastenal, as they would put it on a pallet. At least it is the correct engine. I would have rebuilt it, but I had a backup 66' engine so I went for convenience.

I have a 66 Dodge Dart with an automatic transmission here in central Florida and I was thinking of pulling the engine to swap in a V8 but I wasn't going to do it anytime real soon, but I could. How soon are you looking to get a hold of an engine?

from time to time folks that follow slants are interested in the 727 adapter parts that you mention...

Yea I sent him a pm on it but haven't heard back.

Sorry guys, went to the Turkey Run this weekend and just been busy. I'm still interested but at this very moment I'm speaking with Charlie S and seeing how things go there. So not terribly soon 75slant.
