Has anyone had success with using the larger V-8 exhaust manifolds from a 67-76 on a 63-66' A-body with power steering and 904auto?
In my case- 72' 340 manifolds like the ones in the picture on a 318 in a 66' Barracuda.

I'm removing the manifolds on my 72' Demon 340, 4-speed for a set of Doug's headers and while the 318 is out of the 66' Barracuda- I can remove the 273 manifolds factory style manifolds and put on the 340's for better breathing. (new exhaust is going on at the same time.)
This was a stock photo I grabbed off E-Bay. The driver's side looks correct but the passenger side in the picture looks small. I can't see the casting number to see if it is a true 340 / 360 manifold... but you get the point.

I see TTI makes duals for early A's (separate kit number for Barracuda) that fit a bunch of different manifolds.

ToolmanMike,

I have a brand new 66' Barracuda exhaust sitting in a box I bought from TTI. The head pipes change and Mike at TTI said they will sell me just the head pipes for the exhaust I bought to match the 72' manifolds... the issue is I will not know if they actually fit with out major mods until it goes back together. I was just trying to see if anyone else has used these manifolds with success so I can order the new pipes and have them ready for the install when Im ready. .If too much work then I will just shelf the 340 manifolds and keep what I know works.

There is good information in the direct connection racing manual P4007933, it is as waggin says, manual steering only.

Boy that stinks- I guess then Doug's headers for the 66' cuda then. Just a reworked 74' 318 with a tad of wild added to the mild.
FI Tech fuel injection as well. Those 273 manifolds are so tiny its like running the 225 all over again.

Thank you every one for the help.

$50 buck Magnums fit early A (manual steering. console shift), Power steering just seems to get in the way of everything on these light cars.

Sorry- need power steering Pishta. I've got the rebuild type 2 box from Firm Feel and i'm just anticipating if anyone drives the car, disk brakes and power steering are a must.

Use the stock 273 manifolds! It's not worth the hassle to run the 340HP manifolds. I've got them on my '64 dart and they fit, but it's just so close in so many places.

I've seen the 273 manifolds make a 340 run like a 273:BangHead:

Even the 340 manifold on the 340 make it run like a 273.... Hence why they are coming off the Demon. I just hate to waste them and make them "wall art" if they can go on the 318.
Either way the Barracuda is being built for long hauls and comfort not tire blistering 0-60 in 6.0sec.
My Mrs work about 1hr from home and she wants to drive the car to work a few times a month. I'm kinda building it for her comfort, If it build a car, "I wanna go fast!" - Rickey Bobby
