im transforming my 72 440 duster into a late 70s street freak, slot mags tires sticking out the quarters, yellow plug wires, speed stickers in the quarter windows, etc...

what other "must haves" was the mopar crowd doing in the late 70s early 80s? share pics ideas, anything goes as long as it would be "period correct" for the time

Hole cut in the hood with a 2x4 tunnel ram sticking out. Also needs velocity stacks on the carbs.

Sounds like a cool build. Late 70's Hmm. I had traction bars, gold Moroso V-covers and air cleaner, Pioneer super tuner with a under dash power booster and some 6x9's in the deck. A Cal custom tach on the steering column.

Oh man!! That's an easy one, 4:56 gears with 2004R overdrive...here's my current street machine:

Side pipes.....

in nj in the early 80's, my 71 charger was jacked up with air shocks and spring shackles, chrome traction bars, N50 pro-trac rear tires, crager centerline wheels, hood cutout with the mr gasket polished aluminum scoop with the 3 red butterflies, tiny 8" super deep dish steering wheel, glass packs, and since we had them jacked up so high in the rear, the rear undercarriage, springs and gas tanks were always painted bright white,, and a lot of guys would wire in tiny red lights, one at each bottom shock bolt on the rear

Hemi orange painted brake drums. Cherry bomb glass packs mounted to headers nothing more, or side pipes! S Yellow Lakewood traction bars along with shackles, car must be jacked up like 73 Fury from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot!

and we used to have painted down the doors/quarters in big gold letters,,or across the rear deck lid above the tailights. stuff like "gone with wind",,"brute force",,,we mimicked the drag cars of the 70's

Sounds almost exactly like the 76 Cordoba that used to prowl around our town!! This one also had the little dingle balls hanging across the headliner/windshield....total "chooch"

Thanks for all the "Likes"!! I waited for 30 years to build/make my dream car (from the 60s). I had a "67 fastback Barracuda in the early 70s but it was a rusted piece of junk with a 273 and N50s in the rear with a 4 speed. It's a miracle that I never blew it up!!

Early to mid '70s: Mickey Thompson valve covers with those extended bolts with the t-handles. Holley "780" carb. Cal-Custom bug eye air cleaner. Green fiberglass flex-fan. E-T aluminum slot mags. L-60-15 Pro-Trac ties on the back. Gabriel "Hijackers" air shocks. Long shackles. Yellow Lakewood traction bars. White VHT painted headers, with Cyclone Purple Hornies "mufflers". No tailpipes. Or, Thrush "glasspack" mufflers. Brake drums painted with fluorescent paint. Sun "Super-Tach". Hurst shifter or at least a Hurst shifter handle.
