I did a search last night for Dart heater controls and didn't come up with much. My top control (heat/defrost) doesn't work right. I took the dash apart and it looks like it's seen better days. Are they easily rebuildable, or can they be purchased repo'd?

There's a little plastic pin the that breaks in some of the heat only controllers, when the blend doors or cables develop resistance. It aint so difficult the repair that broken pin. Finding and correcting the root cause of breakage can be challenging.

Thanks, I'll try to fix the one I have and report back on results.

About those little sliding shoes for the levers. There was a thread a while back where a owner had replaced those with new reproductions. I asked that he kindly reveal his source... no reply.

Do those cable retainer clips (around the jacket) just pop off?
Yes but the tend to take flight and land wherever Amelia Earhart landed. LOL I have found them clinging to the dash speakers magnet.Tie string to them maybe?
Mark the cable sheathe with tape/whatever at the clip so it goes back in the same position. Sheathe position alters blend door movement.

Good point, I wouldn't have thought of that...thanks.

After further investigation, I think the controls may be working correctly. I was initially thinking that the heat/defrost/temp cables would move their respective controllers throughout the cable travel but they don't. Each moves its respective controller to one of two positions...if this is correct, all is good. Only thing that makes me think it might not is the heat, which would then only be hot or cold with no in between.

Upper lever moves 2 cables. It first opens heat door fully at near center of its travel then 2nd cable action redirects air flow from heat vent to defrost vent at right end of travel. Thus a spot short of right end where we can get air flow at both heat and defrost vents.
The lower lever controls amount of heat ----WARMER---> About as basic as they could create.

those stupid cables- mine spent a week in a rust remover bath, another neutralizing that and then dry silicone lube the whole thing. Smooth as glass now..
