I will be installing a new front suspension on my '67 Valiant, and I think I've narrowed the choices down to the Reilly AlterKtion or the Gerst GTS setups. My car is being built as a street/strip car, with no plans to autocross or road race it. Just decent street handling, like a modern car is all I'm looking for.
I'd like to hear from folks who have some experience with either one, and opinions on each one. Pros and cons, which one do you think is better?

Thanks! Garry

Gerst! I have both his front and rear kits albeit not yet raced but it has way more adjustability built in. Plus it's a tad cheaper. Get with @bentdart47 his dart is running a full front and rear Gerst set up with a watts linkage set up. Has track time with it.

All that said, you're gonna have a lot of people tel you to just upgrade the factory T bars and steering box etc.

Also, if you search this thread area, There's a handful of write ups including a comparison I made a year or so ago.

Yeah, to be clear, I understand there is nothing wrong with torsion bars and the OEM steering. I'm switching to coilovers for weight savings, header clearance, and easy ride height adjustments. I have seen torsion bar cars at autocross events, and they did just fine, so I know they can be made to work, but for my car they are just in the way too much, and the same goes for the steering box.
Thanks for the feedback.

Rode in a high end B Body several weeks ago. Really nice car that was well prepared. It had an Altercation setup. A little too much road noise and rough for my liking. Not that it's a bad setup.

With that said I had a complete Firmfeel suspension on my 71 Roadrunner. Had 1.05 t Bars and Bilstien shocks. Lower A arm reinforced with tubular upper arm. The car was really fun to drive.

The gerst look a lot like the alterkation the only problem I don’t like with the alterkation is steering radius loss

I installed GERST front suspension kit , but have not driven vehicle yet due to building engine and trans... VERY WELL built kit and CARL is a great guy who stands behind his work... I met him in OHIO at the NATS... Call him up and talk to him ...

most proven out there is the alter-k.

second to none in quality and customer service. give bill a call...

could be the way the owner has it set up.. my dart rode great with it. i preferred a stiffer spring with the shock set a little looser.. there is a local guy with a hemi dart. used some big stupid low hanging oil pan so he has his set up almost solid with heavy springs and shocks adjusted super stiff with his alter-k. if he used the right oil pan he could have set it up properly and had a decent ride.

All the current set-ups are AlterKations with the other companies preferred changes. Bill has countless years of engineering and trial and error in his, the newcomers not so much. Not saying that in some ways there are better or worse changes just stating the facts. I had an AlterK in one car and loved it, low end unit using Ford Fairmount brakes but worked just fine, and cheap rotors and calipers.
