okay- 66 Barracuda- so before the wiper assembly (wiper transmission) goes back in the car, I took it apart, glass beaded it and clear coated all the parts before its resealed and installed while the dash is out.

I found the connection points under the retailing clips have a wavy washer and a round spacer that feels like felt. About .079” thick. Mine are shot. Everything else is good. Does any one know where to find them? I did a search on here and got no where. Either I’m calling them wrong name or it’s been a long time since the question was asked. See picture with my finger pointing to the felt washer.
Thanks!
Joe

Nice finger! Might have them on a virgin 66 cuda! Shoot me a PM.

Take a look at Mcmaster.com
These are the hardware specialists in my business. Almost without exception, if it exists....they have it. It may not be the OEM part that we would all prefer, but any friend that calls you out on it....is no friend. Mcmaster DOES have wool-felt cushioning washers (wave washers too), Ive seen them.

Any luck with that 66 Barracuda radio? MIA perhaps?

You could cut your own. A MAC gasket cutter set would do the trick. A leather punch set would work as well. Most craft/hobby stores should sell one.

Thanks Toolman Mike.
I’m going to try directly to a fabric store. The material hole punch set is nice but will collect lots of dust in my shop. I figured since this was the build years ago somebody reproduced this part. Before the wipers made a lot of noise at this location in my car.
Being under the dash it was noisy.
Got to fix that. Over $35k into this little Barracuda now what’s $20 more.

Mike- sorry for the delay. I’m a small business owner and very busy right now. I found 3 radios at my shop that meet your need but the best one I’m saving for my car. I’ll send you pics of the best of the others within a few days. If I send one out for the expensive conversion then I will sell you the better one. Cost won’t be expensive.
Sorry for the delay- Joe

I wish I would have saved a set back when I retired from the business. You could use it and send it back. Shipping would cost more than the tool costs though. Harbor freight has one for $6.99. For that cheap, use it once and toss it away. Hollow Punch Set 9 Pc

I suspect Ace Hardware would have what you need in the plumbing dept. At least I recall several similar felt washers in their pull-out bins and you can search on their site. I also buy such rare parts from McMaster-Carr, but the shipping can be more than the part. I think their purpose is to hold grease. Probably white lithium grease would be best (auto parts, used for door latches & such). If anyone has worn wiper pivots, buy used replacements from CA or AZ since those wipers have little use.

I ended up going to a local hardware store to the bins and found a plastic washer - same thickness in inner hole size. Outer diameter was larger but a tab of grease and back in business. No slop or clicking anymore.
Thanks for all the help everyone!

I had the same problem with the felt washers. What I did was bought some felt pads for furniture and cabinets. They are 3/4" and have a self stick adhesive. I bought a hollow hole punch set from Harbor freight, used the 3/8 hole punch, punched a clean hole through the pads and used an e-xacto knife to split them in half. It worked!
