I just seen this on an ad for a car for sale LOL.. I'm not quite sure that this is absolutely a good thing? Most seniors that I know are very tight with their money and would throw any kind of oil in there just to "keep it runnin"? Probably loaded with duct tape bailing wire and cockamamie patches...
I remember this car commercial a long time ago here locally where they said everybody wants to buy their car from a little old lady? Let's meet that little old lady.... she says I take the car for a drive every weekend and then there's a sound that sounds like a funny car dragster taking off at the dragstrip! LOL and then she goes on to say how it has over a hundred thousand miles and she's never had to change the oil once! Lol..

Then there’s the send it for maintenance and keep every receipt crowd, of which you would like to buy their ultra low mileage, highly maintained car for your teenager!

My grandmothers car, Buick Apollo, had about 300 miles for every year it was old. She drove it to the market and church on Sunday, that was it. She also had a mechanic that she knew his mom and got all the PMs done on schedule. Only thing wrong with the car was it smelled like an old lady and I dont think the mechanical advance worked 'cause she never got it over 30 miles an hour. My and my dad would take it out on the highway to Paris Tx, an get it above 60, it would smoke white a little and cough and sputter but it would take off after clearing its throat and purr like a kitten. I'd buy that car for my kid if I could today , of course it would be an avacado green 4 door GM with a 307......:icon_fU:

My grandmother had an old 63 Bonneville 2 door 389 car for years and years, and would drive that battle tank everywhere, also about 30 miles an hour. When it was finally decided that she should get a new Duster, the Bonny was sold to my uncle, who pulled the motor and out it in his 65 GTO. Grandma loved that car, the Duster just wasn’t the same, so we younguns sort of took it over, and she got a Chevy Citation. Borrowing Grandmas car got a lot less frequent after that!

Friends gramma had a 64.5 Mustang with just over 20k miles. This was in late 70s ... She drove by Braille!

That's funny that you posted this because we was just talking about this topic at work. I do believe there are 2 sides of "senior" owners.
There is the kind like my grandfather in law who believed that changing the oil was a scam by the automaker industry and refused to change the oil ever. He always kept a new truck he also wouldn't buy tires he would drive a truck till it needed new tires and trade it in. That ment 40 50 60 70 thousand miles without and oil change!! Then he would trade it in on a new one. And the local dealerships would list it as one owner low miles senior owned!!!
Then there is the type who is meticulous about everything and keeps every receipt and changes the oil every three months even if it is driven 300 miles in those 3 months!!!

old lady owned is a thing of the past...... Now it's all "Barn find".... LOL

I have a customer in his 80s that still owns the 1970 442 4sp he bought new.

That is amazing. So cool
There was this old guy I use to hang out with all the time when I was a teenager he had a 67 coronet with a 361 he bought new and a 71 super bee 383 four speed he bought new! The 71 only had 7000 miles on it back then (2001) and he never drove it everything on it was original except the oil!! He even had an extra four speed shifter that was a warranty because the original one broke and they sent him a new one but he never replaced the broken one he just taped the grip back on.
He had a 426 hemi in a 40s dodge brothers pickup he took me for a ride in it.
He said he was gonna order the hemi in the super bee but something with his insurance wouldn't let him I dont remember the whole story. I recently heard that he passed away I guess his son has all them cars now. This guy had an amazing collection.

I have another customer with a 75 W100 shortbox he bought new... I am going to try to buy that one.

My ex-wifes uncle would buy a new Cadillac every 2-3 years, top of the line, when the tires were wore, he would trade it in, every year or so he would add a little oil, never changed it.
I asked him why, he knew better, he would maintain his 4x4 truck to a tee, and not do anything to his almost new car?
He said why do I give a **** about the next guy that owns this car, I am saving money, and will not own it long.

A couple of dealers I worked at years ago took in older trades. The sales man says it probably needs an oil change. The old guys says u can if u want, I never have. I had to poke a screw driver in thru the oil plug hole to get the oil to slowly drain out. Kim

My mom-in-law has a 1991 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible with 13k miles on it. Still had the original tires on it until I drove it to my buddy’s tire shop for some new rubber, which I believe is the farthest it’s ever been driven. I am the caretaker of the car, and I can tell you it’s like brand new. I’m the only one that beats on it, she drives it up to get her mail in her little town, and maybe up to the big town once in a blue moon, but only when it’s nice out. It’s going to be a great car for someone some day!

One of my friends that I was in school with his granny had a 383 70 satellite and that thing would move out he would put his foot on the gas while she was driving it and she would be over there smiling just hanging on you would hear that carter 4bbl moan sometimes the tires would break loose for a second this carried on for at least 2 years till other parents complained lmao...fastest car in parking lot was 1976 road runner with a 1968 340 built...looked like Aspen RT

There can be a downside to the little old lady, low mileage cars. My Aunt gave me her 2000 Impala. Had about 35,000 miles on it. I've done a lot of parts replacing, because it sat so much, seals, etc. dried out on it. She did maintain it meticulously, but it just sat too much.

Mr. Used Car Lot Auto Salesman: Budweiser salutes, Real Man of Genius. lol

The THP guys pulls me over in the 76 Roadrunner. Sir did you realize you were just clocked at 110 MPH??? Yes sir, I was just giving it the weekly "blowout" the engine treatment. Just to keep it running good.
I am 71 and that has been the routine for the last 55 years. He said, glad to see you do this on VERY rural roads.
Texas.

well if 50 is the new 40 and orange is the new black... then maybe seniors are the new cool kids who know how to take care of their cars... the have had a few years to figure it out - I wouldn't read anything into that "senior owned" statement - DMS to me. And same goes for female vs. male owned - I know plenty of both genders that don't know **** about automotive maintenance. People say the dumbest stuff in ads.

My Grandma in the 50s, 60s and 70s drove a 55 Plymouth Savoy 2 door V8 3 speed overdrive, red and black. She did not want trucks passing her so she would keep ahead of them. I dont think she ever drove slow any place. This was here in central Mn and no 4 lane roads at that time. The car was always serviced regular. The Savoy was always put away when the snow came and came out again when the snow was gone in the spring. We would store it for her on the farm.
