When do we get old

-
I'll be 63 in a few months. Stay healthy if you can, exercise or move every day if you can, and live!!
Your as young as you feel, and I don't feel any different than when I was 40

Damn there are a bunch of old farts on this site. Just kidding, I'm heading for 68 in January, so I guess I'm one of the old farts too.

Experts said other day something to the effect that 1 out of 3 people over 50 have some form of heart/circulartory disease/ailment. It has nothing to do how active you have been all your life, I know. I saw where another guy I know, crocked, he was 60 and very active all his life.

Well I don't know, but I've been told, you never slow down, you never grow old......Tom Petty

The music thing I don't think is correct. I am 36 and hate, HATE most all new music. My parents were old hippies so I grew up on John Prine, old country, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, exc. They will never make music like that again in my opinion. The Foo fighters.....:wtf:

COME ON MAN!!! Lol

I sometimes wonder the same thing.

Im 40 now and some times i will be talking to someone who looks "old" only to find out they are just about my age.....
Altho i like to think im ageing well, i still get carded for beer.

Man, I haven't been carded for alcohol for way too long. Damn kids at the register!

I feel fortunate as I will turn 60 this month. I have aches and pain in my back but I work thru it daily with aleeve and back medication when its really bad. Doc says I have arthritis in my back and in my hands. Good thing is i dont have it in my knees (yet). I play and walk at least 54 holes of golf weekly and I use a teeter to hang from trying to stay loose.
I tell my wife and kids that life is broken down into 3 stages, 1st stage (birth to mid 20's) is growing up and having your parents and teachers tell you what to do and when to do it. 2nd stage (mid 20's to mid fifties) is raising your kids and that takes all of your time and money as well as sets up your social functions in life, and finally the 3rd stage is for you to do as you damn well please because its your time and you have earned it!!
Im in that 3rd stage and I do pretty much as I want and when I want it. I try not to take to much away from the others in my family but I want them to understand at this age we only have so many good years left I want to make the most of them as I have given everything I could during that 2nd stage.
I look in the mirror and I dont see an old man yet. Hoping that never happens!
Rod

Don't look in a mirror to get a true picture of yourself. Have someone show you a non -posed Photo of yourself..That's reality.

Just got home from the ZZ/Cheap trick show. That was pretty Good! Cheap Trick kinda over drove the audio and the licks were drowned a bit but still performed well and the 5 neck hit the stage on the last song! ZZ fully took the roof off though! Those three guys are absolutely amazing!!

i've worked at the same place for 35 yrs this nov. when i started, there were a lot of old guys that soon started retiring. now, all the people around the same age as me are starting to retire. and i remember, all those old guys looked old. they looked just like people in old pictures from 20 or 50 years before then, just different clothes. but to me, and the others my age, we don't look like we still picture old(er) people looking :wtf:. the only people that look like that are the guys that left 10 or 20 years ago that come by to say hi. and i look around sometimes and wonder if anyone knows there's a bunch of juveniles (and i mean that in the worst sense of the word :D) running the place.
so i don't know when you officially become old, but i do know that if you sit your *** down and don't do anything, you get there a lot faster

Agree with that, one reason I hate winter !!

I would have liked to have gone.
Vet Tix was giving away tickets to that concert to veterans but we had too much going on to take advantage of them!

Last month the little woman and I saw the Doobie Brothers and Santana at the Sprint center in Kansas City. The Doobie's were great but Santana was unreal, 72 years old and still rock'n. The man played Woodstock, how cool is that!

You missed a great show. ZZ is in the 50th year. There are as good as ever. Dusty and Billy really work as a team and have a great performance. They were playing matching units most the show, But did bring out the square fuzzies for Legs!

What they played most the show.

Age is a state of mind as far as I am concerned. Physical condition plays into it too.

2 years ago, I was feeling like a 70 year old man at age 54 because of my weight. Today I feel like a 30 year old man after having lost 62 lbs.

I ran into an old friend not long ago that I hadn’t seen in 3 years, and while we were chatting with another friend, he said “We are all getting older...except Dave who seems to be getting a lot younger.”

He said it with honest feeling and it stuck with me. I really do feel like I am getting younger and was surprised that it was that evident on the outside too.

It really is a state of mind, how you feel becomes who you are...and determines what age you seem to be at.

Reality is mostly between the ears.

Corn fucious say " man with no dreams is a man with no future" GF told Me that one late one night.

I've reached a point where when I buy a tool for a project and trying to out smart my self, put it in the most logical location. Well that's not working so great, half the time the tool is not in that special place or any other for that matter. So, dam it I spend 30 minutes trying to find it and of course I have placed it somewhere totally obscure. Still looking for my multi-meter that I logically placed 3 months ago.

If you loaned out your tools as much as me you wouldn't have that problem! lol

You probly put it up so u could find it > I`m terrible about that !
Yesterday , I went to the dentist for a teeth cleaning, went by my daughters house to let her pups out for a bit , mowed my lawn , 'had to work on the lawnmower a little ", chainsawed some limbs and brush , so we could get to the south end of a barn my son and I are tearing down, weed eated a little , picked up the brush and stacked it , started trying to crack seal some cracks where tree roots are ruining my driveway , finally gave up after about 6 hrs of it.
Talk about feeling like 73 last night !!

I'm four months away from 60. My body feels like I'm 80. Been walking around for 25+ years with some kind of undiagnosable arthritic type condition. Spent years trying to figure it out, and all the doctors could tell me is what it wasn't. It's not this, it's not that, etc. Finally just had to say the hell with it, and just endure it the best I can.
In my mind I'm still young, but like others mentioned, I do get young people holding the door for me. I always say thanks, but deep down it kinda pisses me off, like what, do they think I'm some kinda old man or something? Lol.
About eight years ago my mom passed in November, and then my last remaining uncle in December. This really hit me hard, cause I looked at the family tree and now me and my brothers are at the top. We are the old farts in the family. It's our generation that's going to start dying off now. I swear I walked around on eggshells for six months thinking that at any moment I was going to fall over dead. Took a while to shake that feeling, but doing better now.
But still think about the end a lot more often now. My dad only made it to 77, so I figure I got less than 20 years left, and I wonder things like, how many good years left? At what age did my dad have his first heart attack? How old when he got Parkinson's? Really hate thinking about this stuff, but it just pops into my head now and then.
