I recently sent a rod through the 360 in my Dart. I got on trade a bare 360 block and complete(disassembled) 5.7 hemi. Heads, intake and pistons -1 are still good. The original 360 made roughly 430HP .030 over with a roller cam, KB pistons. I want to either go full forged rotating assembly with the 360 and make roughly the same power, maybe a bigger cam or build the 5.7 hemi. Kicker is I have tti headers for the 360 that I dont want to give up along with ported and big valve heads. Also the hemi would need the wiring harness and computer along with exhaust and mounts and different flex plate. The 360 will be cheaper but the hemi would have more reliability and durability. What do you guys think?

Your choice. Small block out, small block in. The Gen 3 Hemi swaps aren't plug and play quite yet.

I just watched the Hot Rod garage episode that they put a gen 3 in a duster but put a carburetor on it. If I'm doing the swap, I want to take full advantage of direct port fuel injection. Just sucks it cost so much for mopar guys to do modern engine swaps

Do you know why the failure, rod broke, spun bearing, 7500RPM, don't see many small block rods break.

I'm going to pull the motor in the next couple weeks, it looks like rod to me

That's unfortunate, Yea a rod I would say, maybe bolt broke, I would look into why it failed if you can, wouldn't want that again.

I went through much the same thing this year with my project, bought it with a fragged 360, but a lot of reusable pieces, finally decided to stay LA mostly due to cost and familiarity. Bought a new set of TTi headers, and a month later my brother tells me he can score me a low mile 5.7 with the tranny but no computer or wiring harness for stupid cheap. I haven't got the 360 together yet, but am close, had to really think long and hard about it, but ultimately believe it will be better for me to keep the LA

Im leaning towards that direction, my 89 W250 needs a motor and that thing doesn't need loads of power so the hemi may end up in there. That or ill just store it and build it when the cost of parts goes down.

UPDATE: I spoke with my engine builder and he's going to warranty his work. He's giving me a new block, crank, rods, cam, lifters and replace the junk piston.

That's a good story to hear.

I think that ends this poll

you should consider putting his name on here, he sounds like the kind of guy we would want to do business with

What's the end goal for the cat.

I think I'd do the hemi. Been thinking of pulling the 360 out of Jamie's dart and putting a stock 5.7 hemi In it.
