Hey guys,
Need some advice/help in upper control arms. The "bracket" that adjusts caster/camber that the eccentric bolts push against are weak/breaking, we have thought about going adjustable tubular anyways and was wondering if the adjustable heim style or the PST style adjustable uppers will do away with the eccentric bolts and all the caster/camber adjustment is in the heims/sleeves. Is this thinking correct? Thanks in advanced!

If it is where they bolt onto the frame no way it will be fixed that way you have to address the mounts on the frame.

No

Its not, it's the actual "C" shaped brackets that the control arm eccentrics push against to adjust camber/caster, not the actual control arm mounts themselves. I'm mostly wanting to know if the adjustable heim joint control arms will replace the need for control arm eccentric bolts

Not sure what that means, but as Halifaxhops said, the eccentric bolts move against the frame rail brackets. If they move, there is no part, arm, or fix that will cause your car to hold alignment. Bad metal must be replaced.

As far as doing away with the eccentric bolts; if you did, you'd have to remove the arm every time you needed to adjust it. Annoying for the alignment guy.

So you use the eccentric bolts to adjust camber/castor with the adjustable control arms? Not the old stock stamped style control arms, the adjustable ones with the threaded heim joints and lock nuts.

It's a lot easier to fine tune the adjustment with the eccentric bolts than having to unbolt the UCA's and turn the heims out a half turn turn or so. Who knows - you might need a smaller amount of adjustment than a half turn of a heim joints will give you. I've always roughed it in with the heims, and fine tuned with the eccentric bolts for this reason.

a body with UCA removed pic. If anything here was broken/breaking , weakened it would have to be repaired. Without the "brackets" I suspect you are talking about, the cam bolts will slide around in the slotted holes.

These seem to be getting weak. From what I've gathered (guessed), the eccentric washer (the one not welded solid on the bolt) seemed to have stripped (round hole as opposed to "slotted" or semi-circle) and when the PO or a shop did an alignment, they cranked on the bolt, but all the force was coming from the eccentric bolt side and it seems to have either bent or weakened that sides bracket. Now anytime you try to use the eccentric to adjust camber/caster, it either tries to bend the bracket, or move the eccentric outward.
