I have a junk poly 318 that is going to be scrapped. Is there any parts on it that should be saved?

I was planning on pulling the crank. Not sure of what condition it will be in because the engine was left outside for some time by the previous owner. I drained the oil and there was very little water so fingers crossed. Is this oil pan the same as LA?

I would like to find one just for a show piece in my garage.

Im still kicking myself for passing on an early (gen1) hemi that was in a junkyard about 20 years ago. They wanted $200 for it. It was not one of the desirable ones but it would have been a cool conversation piece. I do recall part of the bellhousing was the actual engine block.

Saw a Firepower Hemi at Pick-a-part when I was in high school (85?), They had a corral with nothing but $175 complete engines on dollies. I remember it had the weird spark plug wire covers, 354?

If it’s a two barrel, not much value. The crank and rods are the same as LA 328s, so not much value there. IF the pistons are any good, that’ll have the highest potential for value but even then, not much as most when they rebuild, upgrade those.

With what I’m assuming is a junk block, there’s really not much there value wise.

The last one I had came out of my old 64 Belvedere wagon. I put it in the back of the truck, drove to the scrap metal place and got weighed in. Then I drove to the pile, opened the tailgate....backed up REAL fast and slammed on the brakes. Went and got weighed out and collected my money and drove away. I had tried to give it away for free for a few months, and nobody wanted it. It's now 1/2 of a Kia! :(

I stripped it down today. The crank is in good shape so im keeping that. cylinders were full of water so the block is junk.

Rockers? Heads? Chrysler power developed an aftermarket for those engines but they are expensive for those enthusiasts. Whatever you can save is going to be appreciated by someone. And that someone needs decent pockets for that slice of the hobby.

I had 3 extra polys. Finally got $50 for one of them, saved some parts as I have a runner, scrapped the rest.
2 barrel is great on gas, drives great, and has a great sound.

You guys need to advertise those polys to the rat rod crowd.... you see a bunch being used.
