Found this in the middle of the woods while hunting. 55 gallon drum. Must have been leaning on the tree and the tree grew right around the lip. Was about 12 feet off the ground.

Probably not. A tree’s girth will expand all over, but upward growth is at the tips of the branches. When “sweethearts” carve their initials on a tree, those initials will still be there, same height from the ground, years later.

Might be the remains of an old deer feeder.

That doesn’t make sense to me. As a tree grows it gets taller as well as wider. I could see where the tree was grown around the lip of the barrel.

A tree grows only from the top upward. The base of the tree does not go higher upward, it only gets wider.

No lower branches ever become higher up than when they first sprouted from the trunk.

Nothing better than kids or grand kids.
What about driving fast down a dirt road? That is pretty good. A tasty ice cream is great too. What about coasting into a gas station after you ran out of gas on the freeway? What about sex that is so good, you almost pass out afterwards? What about having the ability to do something that very few people can do? How about saving a life that is actually worth saving?
I've never had kids so I am just guessing here....

55 gal drum on tree could have been a redneck shower.
