Turbos make power,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,......e85 + turbo = 10s?
Yes, I like turbos. Tons of room under the hood for a turbo small block. Plumbing would be a cinch. Maybe we should consider that..... Also thought about a GenIII hemi
If your a good welder, and can plumb it all yourself.
I'm not a good welder.. :)

The original goal could still be achieved but instead of thinking outside of the box it's going to take using as little of the box as possible. Even then, the greater issue in the way of the original goal is going to be that it's going to take gearing that isn't exactly highway friendly. An 8-3/4 axle and a spare center section with a spool and 5.13 gears for the track could get you around that, but it's pretty labor intensive when you live and hour away from the strip and then race all day. The other issue is it's probably going to take close to 12:1 compression to make the power numbers you'd be looking at.

I think he's showing you how good of a deal you got or he's :poke:
I think he done this on my last purchase. I kind of take it as in "so what, I could buy one too, and my deal is better... na na na".... LOL But, I asked so maybe he'll explain.

I disagree with you not being a good welder! You just haven't done it enough yet.. you need to take your tight *** up to Harbor Freight and spend your $89 and get to welding....

going to get one, man. I've welded, and I do ok. But I'm not a professional welder. I'll be welding the floor like you did, plus rocker panels

You're just an instigator! And I love it....

It's definitely not so what and definitely not I could buy one too... Ah.. I have one...
Ah.. I have a 11.5 motor....
if you notice when it popped up on Craigslist it was probably today or yesterday I hadn't seen it before so I just thought it kind of cool and relevant to the conversation cuz it's surprisingly turned into a truck from a duster from an b body from an old four door e body...lol..
Honestly unless this is a 10.99 car or truck for $5,000 this is just turning into a street strip truck with as fast as I can go in mind...

I highly recommend current to Classic...
They're $24 each floor boards are great and they're shipping they don't mark it up it was $25 to Oregon..

I highly recommend that anyone working on this old junk that can't weld take a class at the local community college on welding then buy a welder and have at it. Once you start putting down good welds and fabricating motor mount brackets, oilpans, headers and whatever you need a whole new part of the hobby opens up. Personally it's what I enjoy.

I will buy through them. I liked your floor boards, and I plan the same thing.

I really wish I could remember who I ordered my floor pans from for my son's truck.. they wanted $59 each and $68 for shipping! and they had a deal where if you bought both of them they were a hundred and nine and the operator still tried to charge me $118 for the two and had to reminder of the discount for buying both and she acted stupid..
Then I buy those ones from current to Classic and there are the identical ones...
One thing that might fool you is they show a picture of the passenger side one and for the driver side it's just a reverse image but when you get them it's the correct one for the passenger side that actually has the dimple for the hi low beam in the upper left corner...
They have a little extra material if it's a 2 wheel drive automatic.. which both of mine were the four wheel drive or two wheel drive with stick shift that have the big removable floor hump...

what are you saying ? plan the same thing ! are you going to flip this truck?
no need to disagree j par I was just asking question ? lol
New floor boards on a race truck ? scrap metal or fiberglass mat would be just fine for a stripped race truck

If I can get a genIII hemi for 500 bucks...….. wheels are turning.... Turbo set up on the current 318….. 440...… :realcrazy:

I think you jumped to fast buying a vehicle, but those are my thoughts. I would have started on the engine with a plan while looking for something more racey.

I started going to the track in 1977 and I've seen more than a few cars go through the light's on the roof. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

In my area, I was only going to land a diplomat, 4 door aspen, pickup, etc for the amount I was looking to spend.
