I was outside today painting my engine bay it has had been nice and sunny all morning and afternoon. Right after I got done spraying it started getting a little overcast nothing major tho. I was outside cleaning my spray gun and felt a drop of rain. I was thinking crap I want to spray my clear coat today. Out of nowhere it started pouring. I was on the phone with my wife (she was in the house) and I told her to come to the window to look how hard it was raining. My youngest son came to the window and had a terrified look on his face, and then it came out of nowhere the craziest rain and wind iv ever experienced. I took off running to get in the house I couldn't make it. It literally blew me off my feet. Mind you I'm not little guy I'm 6ft 245 lbs I managed to jump in my truck as a picnic table flew by my door. No joke guys this **** was crazy. As I set got in the truck and shut the door I could hear my wife and kids screaming. When I looked up the giant apple tree in my yard was falling. And it was gone and fast as it started I had a total of 8 trees blow down one landed on my house. And causing damage to my roof. I lost both my apple trees, two wild cherry's and 4 old locus trees. Lots of pics coming

 Dang! Looks like really strong straight line wind went thru. Any structural damage to your roof, or just busted shingles?
Looks like the peak is broken and there is a hole thru the plywood. I'm gonna cover it with a tarp I'm trying to get ahold of the insurance company

Mother nature can be unpredictable at times, It sucks to lose trees, they take a long time to grow and can be gone in a matter of seconds.
That's a beautiful piece of property you have.

Holy crap. Right up the road from here.... We had an overcast condition today that just begged to storm. But nada. Glad everyone is OK. The rest of it is just life and can be dealt with....

The ground is so saturated with water.
I parked my car trailer and Ram 3500 in the yard last weekend, it rained all night hard.
The next day the tires had sunk past the rims on established lawn surface, tore the crap out of the yard moving the truck.

Do you have soil on that side of the country or sand ?
The OP's trees appear to have a course sandy type soil in the root ball.

It's just so wet here we have had nothing but rain for the last week and I mean heavy rain I think we had like 8 inches in 2 days or something crazy like that the 3 trees in the bottom the pics dont do it justice how big the root ball is the hole is probably 4 foot deep and the 10 foot in diameter. I can stand in the hole and the root ball is 4 or 5 foot over my head and its nothing but soggy mud in the hole

sounds like a micro-burst. I love crazy weather (we never see it out here in So Cal) but I HATE working in it and when it does damage to anything. We do get trees falling over from time to time because of heavy rain but thats like once every 5 years. Glad your safe, sounds frightening!

I remember driving a van down a canyon road and a huge wind came and rain to boot. I pulled over after about 10 seconds laterbecause I couldnt see **** and just then a gust hit my van and I swore it came off the 2 inside tires for a split second

I actually love it too. I love standing in the pouring rain and feeling the winds and rain. We use to have a covered porch id always go set in when we got thunderstorms lightning and thunder has always been amazing to me. But this was different i cant explained why but it was. The crazy part was i was standing right there where the tree fell on the house not 5 seconds before it fell.

Got the tree off the house and put a tarp over it for tonight. Im gonna run to lowes and get some stuff to do a repair while i wait on the insurance company it blew off a bunch of shingles too im not sure what they will do about it iv never had to file a claim before. Also found 2 more downed trees on the other side of the property. So that's 10 total

Damn brother sorry to hear about this. Glad everyone is okay. House can be fixed.

Yea it was crazy I'm just glad noone was hurt. It could have been alot worse. My wife and kids was in the room where it landed thank god it didnt go all the way thru! What's crazy is I was literally standing in that spot in front of the window 5 seconds before it feel.

I stood guard at nights in Philippines and saw some gnarly thunderstorms over Subic Bay. I counted 186 cloud to cloud strikes in 1 minute! It was almost faster than I could count.

Sorry about the damage, but really glad no one was hurt.
