Lunati Hydraulic FT Cam users..........

The 703 is the same cam I have I was gonna use summit lifters until I read they voided my warranty now I'm gonna by some of the lunati microtrol lifters they are supposed to be good I have my summit ones for sale if your interested

I understand what you are asking for.
Are you suggesting that Lunati cams are different? To my understanding Lunati hydraulic cams have no special requirements for lifters, you could run any brand of hydraulic flat tappet. Problem being is that most are junk. I have had problems with Comp Cam lifters no pumping up. I know that some members have old Mopar OEM lifters reground and use them with confidence.
Not suggesting the cam is different, but normally I buy the cam kit. In this case, too many complaining about their lifters in the kits collapsing. Seems QA Control has tanked. For years I ran MP cams, never a lifter failure. And to be honest, the recent cam kits I've used have worked without issues as well.

All right, you and RRR may have convinced me to go this route... microtrol !

The number one biggest thing with ANY lifter you choose is to make DAMN SURE it spins in the bore as the engine turns. That's one reason why I put a light ball hone on lifter bores as I prep the block.

I think I'm going microtrol myself also :)

I was going to go solids but I thought of his car and seen they didn't work, so I'm going hyd FT.... 7k into just performance parts for the motor and burp'n mid 12's... :D :D
40 years in Mopar and still mid 12's in your own a body is ONLY a dream....
Good Lord the legend grows every time the stories told now it's 7K LOL...

Is this cam going in the 360 Duster?
correct. But before I swap cams, I think I "might" have something I ordered today that cost 32 bucks shipped that may increase/correct a component. I'll do more in depth checking when the temp drops a little outside. But if I'm correct, I may get 12's with the broomstick cam and interstate gears w/stock converter.

Oops.... an additional 1k in pretties... LOL. And, you'll never know how fast I've gone... ever. But I'll keep you current on what I'm running to date. :D

By the way, I made good on my promise. I promised you a better ET slip than 13.3's this year, and promised has already been fulfilled :)

Agreed it would be too embarrassing....... I don't want you to say it publicly...:D
have you thought about just getting a good well-known set of lifters or the ones that are in there now just resurfaced? I think Ken at Oregon cam grinding charge like four bucks a pop.......

For the price of a decent set of lifters, I won't mess with boxing and shipping these to get resurfaced. I think I'm set on the Microprotofoco from Lunati :)

How are the summit brand lifters
Same pn as sealed power, HT 2011.
Box says made in Mexico any issues with them?

I have summit cam kit in my 318 Duster. Been in there now for 5 or 6 years, no issues. But I make sure they stayed pumped up as I can't seem to keep my foot out of it :)

Maybe spend another $79 and get the campground into something exactly what you want. Oh no then the rabbit hole another hundred 54 Smith Brothers

Hell I will give you a set of OEM lifters, all you pay is the ride.

That sure is kind of you!! And I sure appreciate it, but I think I'd like to try those Microtrol for my own experience with them.

Agreed. I've had paint over spray make some lifter bores tight, and all it takes is a little burr to wipe out the side of the lifter..
I also always do a check fit with just light oil first to make sure there's no unwanted drag.

My experience from about 2 years ago
I have a comp xe 268 in a 340
The comp lifters that came with the cam would bleed down right after running then clatter next start until they pumped up.
Called comp to ask about that,
The guy said so what why do you care?
Well after that conversation I called Lunati
He said their lifters are made by the same manufacturer comp uses and probably would not be any better.
He recommended Johnson or hylift Johnson lifters. ( two different companies. )
I had a new / old mopar purple shaft kit from 1990
I used the lifters from that kit no more problems!

My next cam will be a Lunati because of their honesty not just selling me lifters that probably wouldn't be any different.
Hughes sells hylift Johnson lifters
My 2cents...

Likewise, I've seen stories about Johnson lifters doing the same thing. I don't think it's one brand specifically, but a quality issue across the board.

Yeah I think your right
Not sure what changed but it seems like a shot in the dark to get a good set these days.
Btw next cam will be a solid flat.

I would only buy the microtrols myself, we have set of usa made flat tappet hydraulic lifters in my buddys pontiac and it wont spin past 5k. We finally figured out its the dam lifters, they don't collapse but instead bleed down as rpm increases to the point they act like a flat cam and the engine breaks up. The cam is a lunati voodoo (241/249 @ .050) so its a bit aggressive but the lifters were bought from a reputable source and brand but they are crap, bleed down like crazy. The other thing is you can make the flats on the lifters yourself with a litle fabbing/creativity for extra oiling like the crowers.

Depends on the level of performance. The advantages are you can go 10 years and never pull a valve cover and never hear the ticking of an adjustable rocker. All new performance engines are running hydraulic lifters - - up to and over 800 hp.
Oh really...and you can still hear the ticking of a hyd lifter collapsed...hit topic around here ironically...
That's a real pos sales pitch of which all of it is total bullshit. How many schmucks have come on hear with wasted cam lobes..all hydraulic too.

Like dude If you don't prefer a solid cam, that's fine, but don't try selling that crap.
Fastest cars use soild cams, slowest use hyd cams. Just like the old holley vs everything else... fastest cars use the holley design.

Lmao same hyd cams he speaks on new cars are not even push rod, apples to oranges trying to compare 50+ yr old tech against 2020 dohc etc. 59 lifter angle too, right. You're arguing this would be just like...
