1) My 1966 intake manifold shows a casting number of 2536563 (foto #1). Found a post on FABO (was obviously cut and paste) shows a casting number of 2536536 (last two numbers switched; see foto #2). Is that just a typo or do I own an intake manifold not listed on the chart?

2) MY 1966 intake manifold has a tapped hole on the passenger side in front of the choke, did the factory use this hole to secure anything (see casting boss in foto #3 which has some old blue paint on top).

Thank you.

#2536563 is a 66-67 273 manifold. There is no intake ending in 36 so that is a dyslexic typo. The boss is probably for a A/C compressor bracket.

I have 2 '65 4 bbl intakes both with the same casting #s. One is documented from Los Angeles plant on '65 Dart, the other is of unknown origin. This is from the '65 Dart.

According to the little white books (does anyone use them anymore?), 273 4-barrel intakes are:

2465726 - 1965
2536636 - 1966
2536563 - 1966 and 1967
2536771 - 1966 and 1967 with C.A.P.

And like slant6dan stated on a air cleaner thread, there was no CAP in 65 so even though one manifold is known to come from California it probably is no different than one from Hamtramck.

All 5 of my '66 273 4bl intakes are either 2536563 or 2536771 (C.A.P.) Same castings were used in 1967.

The choke is held in by a tab that goes in one hole and a bolt that goes in the other... Put the tab in the opposite the threaded hole, then rock it into position and put the bolt in the threaded hole on the other side... The choke only uses one bolt to hold it in...

While we're on the subject, does anyone know why the C.A.P. intakes are different? Other than the extra big boss added to the casting (as you can see in Mike's photo), what makes them different? By the way, that big threaded hole in the add-on doesn't go anywhere. It's just a blind hole with pipe threads (I think). I've seen people put plugs in them, but, there's no need since nothing passes through that hole.

The one on the lower right? Power brakes I believe.

I'm talking about your 771 intake. You have a big plug in yours. It's the section right forward of the casting number.....that extra triangle shaped section. What the heck is that for? Just something cast in and then not machined or used?

That gets a "christmas tree" nipple or "octapus fitting" on cars with power brakes and A/C... The A/C vents are vacuum actuated and they use an octopus fitting in there for the nipples for the vacuum hoses for the A/C ducts...

That's the vacuum source for power brakes and/or A/C vents...

The hole with the plug I'm talking about doesn't go into the intake section. It doesn't go anywhere......it's just a threaded hole with extra casting around it. I doesn't mount anything either. Look at post #3. That's the manifold I'm talking about.

No, why when you have the internet and and ask the question in a forum and call it research.

Now that is really strange looking. If it's just a threaded hole that doesn't go through, then I'd have to think something was mounted there, but have no idea what.

This one sold here on For A bodies only in Feb. 2018. It has the triangle thing and the cast in boss, but no threaded hole. ????

Thanks! I haven't seen one with the boss, but, undrilled/untapped. I just can't figure out the purpose of that modification.

Me neither. My intake has the boss and it is tapped and plugged. It is a CAP intake if that has something to do with it.

Yes, C.A.P. intake, but, why? Since the hole (or not) on that extra casting doesn't do anything, why is it there? Nothing mounts in the hole. The hole is not a vacuum source. Just strange.
