I recently had to replace a tie rod end, bought a Moog: Moog Chassis Parts ES319L Moog Replacement Tie Rod Ends | Summit Racing

Now replacing all 4, read multiple opinions on Moog and the majority state they're junk, but I have no idea.

Proforged doesn't have any negatives I can find, but there are 2 listed for each inner and outer, one twice as much as the other.
The more expensive one is around the same price as the Moog.

Problem is, neither provides any info. Iirc, the stock ones have 9/16 ends, my understanding is that refers to the threads for the sleeves.

I'll be using the QA1 sleeves, and the thread size isn't listed for these but there is only one option: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qa1-52325

What part number for the Proforged tie rod end?

And if Moog is such garbage, should I also get the Proforged lower ball joints?

I have QA1 ucas.

Pic of the recent Moog tie rod.
Also, for some reason, the Moog inner tie rod end is more than the outer, and the passenger side lower ball joint is more than the driver side.

I dont know about the Moog having a problem. On my daily drivers that are Crown vics Moog is the only suspension parts that i can get to hold up without needing replaced. i drive almost 30 thousand hard miles a year and have never had to replace a Moog after I put it on any of them.

The Moog tie rod I got doesn't appear to be crappy, but what do I know.

I do know the Moog ball joints are more $, not by much, and not sure on the tie rod ends until I can figure out which Proforged ones are correct.

I bought all moog tie rod ends on my daily driver at the time 65 Dart. Within a month most the boots are ripped off. I’m buying proforged from now on and the expensive ones also.

2 of the 4 of my moog tie rod ends had play in them after one year and little driving, 2 were still solid so I came to the conclusion that they have very poor spec's when assembling them.
I switched to proform and bought the complete kit with adjusting sleeve's and tie rod ends. It has only been a year since I installed all that so I can't say if their stuff will out last the moog.

Found it.

104-10157 is the stock 9/16 for $39.57.
104-10268 is the optional 11/16 for $17.96.

Why would the bigger one be half as much?

Are there any issues going with the 11/16?

Proforged lower ball joints:

101-10130 front right lower drum - available
101-10131 front left lower drum - available

101-10346 front right lower disc - not available anywhere, at all
101-10347 front left lower disc - available on 1 website

Drum or disc isn't indicated on the parts websites where they are listed.

I need disc.
Looks like Moog for lower ball joints.

I would stick with the smaller tie rod ends, but they are more expensive.

Anyone have the 11/16, with a big block, if that matters.

No complete Proforged steering kits available.

In your initial post you said you are using QA1 sleeves. If you are following through on that then you need to buy tie rod ends to match the sleeves. I'm guessing the sleeves will be HD and may require the larger "C-body" size.

Why are the prices different?
Does it cost more to manufacture the smaller ones? Are the larger ones sold in greater quantities? Are they being closed out? Have the larger ones been sitting on shelves because they are slow movers and made before the import tariffs were implemented? Who knows?

I was wondering the same thing.......Price the 11/16 tie rod adjuster. That price makes up for the cheap lower tie rod price for the 11/16.

It's not that Moog is garbage. Moog, like WIX Filters went global not long ago, so you might get a part made in USA, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Mexico, wherever. So you get "what you get" and what you get may be a good part or it may not.

had a bad moog lower ball joint from day one in our dart.. drove me nuts for the longest time before i figured out what felt like was binding.. finally decided to change out the lower ball joints after reading about a bunch of moog failures... i could tell the car was fixed as soon as the car was off the jack. didn't even have to drive it. i wont be using any more moog front end parts any more..

When it comes to lower control arm bushings I have experience with the Moog stuff. I ordered two sets
of moog and they were two different styles in them
and the quality was terrible they just slipped right on the pivot shaft with no press fit.. I then tried the AC Delco ones and guess what? The exact same part number on the inner rubber and same crappy quality as one of the Moog sets. The way I hear it is federal mogul sold the Moog name and my guess is now all you get is a box with Moog on it and the parts are sourced from the cheapest supplier. I did finally give up and ordered the proforged ones the they were very nice well made and fit like a glove.

Both adjusters are the exact same price, $59.95.
105-10048 and 105-10049

In your initial post you said you are using QA1 sleeves. If you are following through on that then you need to buy tie rod ends to match the sleeves.
The QA1 sleeves I intended to buy are listed for 63-76 a-body Mopars, among others.
As that was a 'known' I added those to the list, then it became mud when I looked into the tie rod ends more.
Of course, not even QA1's website lists the thread size, found it only on jegs, 9/16, although I assumed that, I hate to assume when ordering parts.
Part #52324 is 11/16, and #52325 is 9/16, both $64.95.

At this point the Proforged sleeve is less expensive.
The Proforged 9/16 tie rod ends are about the same $ as the Moog.

The Proforged 11/16 tie rod ends are half as much, but unknown if any issues, such as clearance - only open question.

Only 1 Proforged lower ball joint is available, less $ even, so I'll need at least 1 Moog.

Missed it by that much!

I'm not sure, but I think on my '71, the difference between the disc & drum lbj's are the mounting bolt holes (1/2 or 7/16 vs 9/16). Maybe someone else could confirm that reaming Drum lbj's to 9/16 would make them work with discs. Just thinking out loud.

BTW....Sorry about the tie rod adjuster reference. I compared the Proforge adjuster (which you would need with 11/16 tie rods), with the standard OEM type, (which you wouldn't have to replace with the 9/16 rods)

Sorry about the tie rod adjuster reference
No need, it was a good point, and there could have easily been a price difference with the 2 Proforged sleeves.
Heck, the left and right Moog lbjs are different prices.

101-10347 front left lower disc - available on 1 website
Ordered the above ball joint from the only place that had it even listed, and it was marked as available, Jegs.
Received a confirm email, and this morning a shipping/tracking email.

Just received a refund from Jegs for it.
It is no longer on their website.

Proforged must have discontinued the a-body ball joints, even though their website lists them. Of course, cannot buy direct.
