I know this topic has been beat to death here. But let's kick the corpse down the road a little more.
I keep having this recurring dream (nightmare?) of seeing my finished (340) engine topped with a six pack induction setup. Stupidly expensive costs aside, it seems every time I begin fantasizing about this and price-checking, the scene has changed. One minute Eddy is making the SB manifolds, the next they are not, and they are "unobtanium". Same with the carbs. Right now, the only one selling stupid-expensive center carbs (new) is Classic Industries. Outboard carbs are nowhere to be found. Most of the used systems I come across on eBay are ridiculously priced and/or incomplete, or look like something the cat dragged in and are almost certainly NOT unmolested. I'm really leery about stuff like that. I would actually prefer to bite the bullet and spring for new components...if I could find them. So anyone got the inside scoop on availability? Can these components be purchased direct from Holley and Edelbrock? Are the big block carbs (way more available) too different that they can't be adapted? Help me get some sleep, please!

My best suggestion would be to check out a thread on fbbo, called "tripower carbs on 440 six barrel". Sonny started the thread to find out if he could use corvette tripower carbs to put together a sixpack setup for his 440. Eight pages of info about how it was done, with new carbs, manifold and aircleaners, on the cheap (relatively!). If you dont need them to be original, and "correct", that might work for you. He says his setup saved at least a thousand bucks.
And for what it is worth, the 440 carbs are so similar to the small block carbs, i cant tell the difference except by looking at the numbers, htey will work just fine on a small block.

I must have got the last set-up:D

I have a couple intakes but im holding on to them. There are plenty of them out there. Problem is someone decided they are worth gold prices recently and everyone followed suit.

Without reading anything except the first two posts...

Edelbrock is not making the intake anymore.
Holley carbs can be purchased at Holley.com
The 340’s rear carb has a tab in the passenger side barrel for fuel distribution but not on any other carb.

I myself have a mix of carbs for my set up since it will be a stroker of 400+ cubic inches.
The other differences in the carbs is jetting.

(I just read the entire post.)
A FI 6 pack is an interesting idea. There are several companies to choose from.

I was lucky because I found a dealership going out of biz. They were selling all of there stock stupid cheap just to get rid of it. Have a bank roll ready to press “Buy now” just incase you roll across something to go to pass up but make it as nice of a part as possible since rebuilding carbs is expensive and intakes have tripled in price if not more. SB 6 pack intakes are the new MoPar gold.

The other ridiculous cost is the air cleaner base. I purchased a fiberglass unit that wasn’t worth the price but to fix it was cheap and easy to a degree a 5th grader could do it nicely. Use the K&N filter because the paper air filter is also a Gold and Platinum encrusted item.

The carbs are on sale right now at Summit Racing.

Also Fi-Tech makes a fuel injected set up for 6-pacs.

It is the intake that is hard to find.

If you look carefully, the center carb only is available and for AT only. I will be running an A-833 4 speed. I've been told the BB outboard carbs can be rejetted to work with the inboard carb but that could be "fake news".

You are correct, sir. The air cleaner is north of 750 not including the top which is another 125. The linkage kit is also around 700. What this means is you could very easily wrap up 3000 bucks. I'm thinking 2 x 4 might be way cheaper in the long run...especially since I have a brand new Eddy performer 500 cfm carb here. One more of them and a manifold might make for a really hot time in the old town. Didn't you have a SB dual quad setup once, Rumble? I seem to remember a video of one here once upon a time.

The linkage parts I purchased at fullprice and was 2/3rds that price. At least! If I was starting from scratch, I wouldn't do a 6 pack ever. Screw that stupidness.
You noted in the prior post about the carbs, also fake news, I suggest you do your homework before you make statements under assumptions. Besides the rear passenger side 340 carb having a tab for fuel distribution, jetting is the only other difference in the available carbs and the list numbers stamped on them. If your doing a rest, yea, you would be SOL. Since your not..... re-jet as needed.
DualPlane Dual Quads? Once apon a time, a good bit ago.... YUP, but... Sold to a member for his buddies ride. Carbs went to 2 other members, linkage to a 4th member...

Find ya one one of these Edelbrock intakes. I like it better than the Weiand TR, which isn't a shabby unit ether.
Another Edelbrock 500, carb linkage and a fuel line set up is a lot cheaper.

Yeah, the "fake news" comment was in regard to the fact that I don't believe everything people write on the internet without verification. People say a lot of things...the dual quad low rise setup looks super cool but availability of that manifold is questionable now as well.

Gotcha! Wise! The Edel. dualplane Dual Quad is a hard onto find. The tunnel ram will be somewhat easy. Just have monies ready for the buy it now....
