Hey there FABO fam. I have a possibly dumb question. Will 1964 dart sedan tail light work on the wagon? I know, from what I have read, that the wagon tail lights will not work on the sedan. What, other than the lens, is the difference between the two.

Beautiful wagon!!!:popcorn::thumbsup:
Pick of tail lights wouldn't hurt.
Looks like a 64 270 wagon with a 63 grille. I believe the bases and lenses are different between passenger cars and wagons.
There are usually wagon tail lights for sale on ebay if you can't find any here.

I think they are the same shape, but different angle. so they may not look right or fit.

No, the fit/function interchange is '63-'64 Dart wagons (only). No other model, no other year, no other bodystyle; the sedan lamp housings and lenses will not fit the wagon body. The '63 and '64 lenses are shaped differently, so you'd probably want a full set of '63s or '64s.

I know that on the 63s they are completely different on the wagons vs the sedans. Nice 64 wagon BTW

Yup, wagon is different than the other body styles. Typical of most SW's is that the lenses are held in by screws from the outside, whereas the other body styles have lenses that attach from the back side, studs on the housing and take nuts from the inside of the trunk to fasten them to the body. They're similar in appearance, but, nothing interchanges.

Years ago I had a conversation with a friend and he posited an idea: By production numbers, some ABC body wagon parts are possibly even more rare than the same parts for sedan and coupe models.

This is a bit of an old thread but I thought I’d see if could revive it since I really need wagon tail light advice. I’ve been failing to find a tail light lens for my friends’64 Canadian Valiant wagon (same as American Dart back half) I’m now wondering if I should start looking for a complete non wagon housing and lens set to try to make them work? Getting a little desperate here.

Have you searched EBay? Started a wanted ad here on FABO? Do you have the part number and do a nationwide search of NOS parts vendors? If you start altering parts, it’s hard to go back if that fails.

Also, just to verify you're searching for the correct parts, you may want to post a photo of what you have.

All really good points. Again, I’m doing this search for a good friend and I have done a ton of work on his wagon so I have a bit of an attachment to it. The last wagon lens on eBay was over $800usd. I considered ‘63 tail lights as well.

That top-down view in your second pic - the wagon light is about 1 1/2" deeper at the deepest part of the lens than the sedan is.
They show up on ebay from time to time.

Thanks for that. I wasn’t sure how big the physical differences were and this scraps any plan of trying to retrofit a sedan lens. Haven’t seen one on eBay for ages and that was the $800 one.
